Abut Tsai Chueh_Lin
Chueh-lin Tsai was born in 1980, Taipei. She received her master’s degree from the Graduate School of Art and Technology, Taipei National University of Arts in 2007. She makes animation films and usually writes her own scripts. She is interested in experimenting different elements and styles in her works. Her 2007 piece, The Devil Under the Chair, is a pixilation. In her next work of the same year, Meeting and Leaving Myself, she mixes 3D and 2D with video clips shot by her. In another pixilation work, I Love You (2008), she tries to create an atmosphere of a live performance. Even though her styles vary, the sense of existence and female self-awareness are her main concerns. In her 2008 work, Traveller, she uses pinhole to shoot female body, thus the viewer’s perspective, like insects’, became very limited. This limited perspective is meant to demonstrate a more humble attitude, which she thinks humans should hold toward the environment. This film was selected for the 8th annual Urban Nomad Film Festival in Taipei, and 2008 Women Make Waves Film Festival. Chueh-lin expects to explore and discuss more social issues through her work with wider perspectives and her female sensitive observations.
