I-88 Speedway joins Bethel as newest EST Sanctioned Facility for 2012
The Empire Sport Trucks is pleased to announce the addition of Bethel Motor Speedway in Bethel NY and I-88 Speedway in Afton NY to the slate of tracks which will be running the class in the 2012 season.
Bethel is a quarter mile asphalt track which played host to two All-American Builders EST series events in 2011. After receiving positive feedback from drivers, track management as decided to move forward with a potential of six dates at the facility.
After receiving overwhelming support from drivers and fans, Ron Ford and Jamie Page have decided to add the EST series to the racing program at I-88 Speedway. In an effort to allow the division a chance to build, the class will run features only until the truck count reaches an as yet undetermined level. The class will run nights there are no touring series on the schedule and may be given other nights off, depending on truck count.
The Empire Sport Trucks is entering its second year of sanctioning the 4 cylinder truck division at racetracks in New York and Pennsylvania. The division ran weekly shows at Skyline Raceway in Cortland NY, with tour races at various paved and dirt facilities in the area. BETHEL, NY – With the holidays wrapping up, some drivers in the Northeast are being given an additional gift, as the Bethel Motor Speedway office announced plans to add a limited number of Empire Sport Truck series races to the 2012 schedule.
The Empire Sport Truck series made two stops at Bethel during the 2011 season, and drew in enough interest for drivers to approach speedway management to request additional shows in the upcoming season. The track is presently still working on the 2012 schedule, but has confirmed that six potential dates are being planned for the EST series.
Based on the extreme interest that the series drew last season, we are looking forward to an exciting year hosting the series on our schedule on a fairly regular basis,” stated Bethel’s Business Operations Manager, Tracy Chirico. “We have already spoken with several potential teams, and we have confirmed that trucks have been purchased to be run as part of the series at Bethel.”
The EST series trucks are four-cylinder trucks designed to be fun and affordable. They race both at sanctioned tracks on a weekly basis, and also take part in the All American Builders Tour, comprised of races at several different tracks. The series’ inaugural season wrapped up in October with a two-way tie between Dan Wood and Steve Argus.
The tie in the inaugural season just goes to show how close the competition is, and it foreshadows the potential for growth in the class,” Chirico commented. “We are excited that Bethel is going to be a part of that excitement in 2012.”
With the finishing touches presently being added to Bethel’s 2012 schedule, it is expected that the tentative schedule will be released in January.

BRAKES- MUST BE OEM BRAKE SYSTEM FOR THAT TRUCK. NO DISC BRAKE CONVERTIONS. NO ADJUSTIBLE BRAKE BIAS ALLOWED , IN OR OUTSIDE OF COCKPIT. ALL 4 WHEELS MUST LOCK WHEN INSPECTED. MAY RUN RIGHT FRONT BRAKE SHUTOFF.
SUSPENSION- ALL SPRINGS , AND BUSHINGS AND LOCATING DEVICES MUST REMAIN STOCK OEM AND IN STOCK OEM LOCATIONS. MAY USE AFTERMARKET SHOCK STEEL BODIED AVALIBLE AT PARTS STORE NO AFTERMARKET RACE SHOCKS PERMITTED.
A.- FRONT END- FRONT CAMBER MAY BE ADJUSTED BY SLOTTING OF STRUT TOWERS , ADDING SHIMS. FORD RANGERS “ I BEAM ONLY ” MAY USE AFTERMARKET FRONT ARMS TO ACHIEVE THIS , IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO CUT FACTORY FRONT ARMS ON FORD RANGERS AS THEY ARE CAST IRON AND DO NOT CUT.
B.- REAR END- OEM REAR EN D ONLY. NO QUICK CHANGE. NO FORD 9". NO ALUMINUM AFTERMARKET REAR ENDS. REAR AXLE MAY BE MOVED TO TOP OF SPRINGS , THE USE OF BLOCKS OR SPRING HANGERS IS PERMITTED. OPEN GEAR RULE IN EFFECT. Rear suspension must be stock OEM. Stabilizer bar is permitted. No added lift arms or push-bars allowed. No upper torque links or pan-hard bars allowed. Must use OEM suspension pieces. May add or remove leaf springs
STEERING- STEERING COLUMN MAY BE USED OR MAY BE REPLACED WITH STEERING SHAFT. MUST HAVE A SLIP JOINT IF REPLACEING STEERING COLUMN. THE USE OF A QUICK DISCONNECT STEERING WHEEL IS PERMITTED.
WHEEL BASE- ALL TRUCKS MUST MAINTAIN WHEELBASE AS MANUFACTURED
TIRES AND WHEELS- ALL FOUR TIRES MUST BE DOT LEGAL , AND HAVE TREAD WEAR RATING OF AT LEAST 260. TIRES ELIGIBLE MAXIMUM 245- 60 OR 65 SERIES IN A 14” OR 15”. MUST BE ALL 14” ON TRUCK OR ALL 15” RIMS USED ON TRUCK AT SAME TIME. ALL TIRES MUST HAVE A MEASURABLE TREAD DEPTH OF AT LEAST 1/16”AT THE LOWEST POINT. WHEELS MAY HAVE A MAXIMUM WIDTH OF 8” AND HAVE THE SAME OFFSET ON ALL FOUR WHEELS . MUST USE 1” LUG NUTS ON ALL FOUR WHEELS ON ALL WHEEL STUDS. DRIVERS SEAT- AN ALUMINUM HIGH-BACKED RACING SEAT IS MANDATORY. IT MUST BE SECURLY MOUNTED TO FRAME OR ROLL CAGE IN AT LEAST SIX POINTS (FOUR AT BOTTOM AND TWO AT BACK). MUST USE A SFI APPROVED MINIMUM 5 POINT RACING HARNESS PROPERLY MOUNTED TO ROLL CAGE. BELTS MUST BE OF 3” DESIGN AND HAVE QUICK RELEASE LATCH. MUST BE WITH IN 5 YEARS OF INSPECTION DATE TO USE.
WINDOW SAFTEY NET- ALL TRUCKS MUST HAVE AN APPROVED SFI NET PROPERLY INSTALLED IN DRIVERS WINDOW AREA.
