This is what our students are finding out. Where the heck does those eggs come from and what end of the chicken does it exit?
Student are amazed at the findings. The questions comes fast and furious. How does that chicken make that egg? Why is the egg warm.? Green! chickens lay green eggs? - ugh!. Can you eat those eggs? How do you make baby chickens. Through our Veterinary Science classes we're happy to supply the answers and watch their eyes, imagination and knowledge grow.

Grant Received from CT Office Of Policy and Managrment for Urban Violence Prevention
From 2007 through 2010, Ebony operated a very successful Equine Urban Violence Prevention Program funded by CT OPM. The program was a total success. Out of this program the Ebony Junior Mounted Patrol was created with the influence and assistance from the Hartford Mounted Patrol. Youth, especially our boys had a strong interest in combining their equestrian skills and the need to understand urban law enfocement and forge a relationship through the combined interest around horses.
As a result our young men in our Mounted Patrol Unit have ridden alongside members of the Hartford Mounted Patrol in special events, riding through Keney Park and our general youth population have had frequent involvement with the police members. This relationship has had such a positive effect on all of our youth and the Police as well.
The new grant for 2010 to 2011 will allow our work with violence prevention continue and strengthen our relationships with Hartford's Police Department, to effect change in our community and our youth.
