MET ePortfolio - Nancy D. Castonguay
This ePortfolio has been created as part of the TQS (B.C Teacher Qualification Service) / MET (U.B.C. Master of Educational Technology Program) requirements for category upgrade and program completion. As such, it is primarily designed to be used to reference the capstone experience as outlined by the TQS and the UBC Faculty of Education.
Lorenzo and Ittelson (2005) state that [t]he benefits of an e-portfolio typically derive from the exchange of ideas and feedback between the author and those who view and interact with the e-portfolio. This implies that above all, the ePortfolio should serve as a gateway to life-long learning, capitalizing on Web affordances to connect the author with other learners / learning communities and to facilitate interaction with knowledge and artefacts.
One moral of the story is that we might all do better if we dared classify ourselves as "developing." Seymour Papert
Origin
Abitibi - Temiskaming
I was born in Montreal but grew up in Northern Quebec, spending much of my early childhood in a small village called Rollet, and schooling years in Rouyn-Noranda.
Migration I
I moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1977, where I graduated from Sir Charles Tupper Secondary School. I worked for about 15 years supporting persons with exceptionalities before attending Langara College, where I began my undergrad studies. I finished my B.A. at UBC, and began the Teacher Education Progam shortly thereafter.
Migration II
I was hired by the Abbotsford School District while completing my practicum in New Westminster ,British Columbia, and have been living in Abbotsford ever since. During my 4 years of teaching at W. J. Mouat Secondary School I have had the priviledge of working with some of the most avant-guardist educators and administrators in the province. This is where my quest for understanding the implications of technology in education began.

e.VoluTion
The theme 'e.volution' was selected for this project because I wanted to ackowledge that knowledge is something that we share within our speicies, much as we share our genetic make-up, since all learning is embedded in social activity in one way or another. Today, most of what is known is embedded in some form of digital technology; hence the 'e.' in 'e.volution'. In order to understand the elements which have contributed in my personal evolution, i have constructed a knowledge timeline that begins with my birth and ends where I am today... This is not meant to show that the road ends here, rather, I do not know where the forces of evolution will take me in the future...
