Upon entering their senior year of high school, Reality Changers students participate in RCs
Senior Academy. Senior Academy which serves as a time for RCs 12th grade seniors to receive
assistance with college applications while connecting them with business professionals/mentors.
The Senior Academy is run by the Senior Academy Coordinator who has the necessary knowledge
for the seniors to apply to college and for scholarships. The Coordinator is accompanied every
week by tutors who are usually professionals who graduated from college and have career
experience to help the seniors make decisions that will prepare them for college.
UC San Diego
Academic Connections
Reality Changers students with at least a 3.5 GPA attend Academic Connections, an exciting,
three-week summer program offered each July by UCSD to high school students across the nation.
Students enroll in a course that is designed to be an in-depth exploration of particular topics.
Morning sessions are held in a traditional lecture format, afternoon sessions are held in a
workshop or laboratory setting, and evening sessions provide students with time to complete daily
homework assignments and receive personal tutoring.
In addition to their course work, students enjoy a rich experience outside the classroom. They live
on campus under the supervision of residential program assistants and participate in activities
ranging from sports, to arts and crafts, to music, to special events such as dances and a student
talent show. The UCSD Academic Connections staff provides a safe and supportive environment,
appropriate for pre-collegiate students.
Academic Connections allows Reality Changers students the opportunity to take real college
classes and earn real college credit before even becoming sophomores in high school, thus
convincing RCs future first generation college students that they can indeed achieve success at
such a high academic level.
Forest Home
Reality Changers students who earn 2,000 points during the weekly SAT workshops earn a
scholarship to this week-long spiritual retreat center offered each August, where students are
encouraged to strengthen their relationship with God, wherever that relationship might be. There
is no particular faith requirement to join Reality Changers, as demonstrated by past students who
have been practicing Protestants, Catholics, atheists, and Buddhists.
