ABOUT
HISTORY
WELCOME to Piercy Professional Handling!I am Erin Piercy & I reside in the small town of Chico, California, located only 1½ hours north of Sacramento. I am a professional dog handler, trainer and breeder. I am dedicated to the sport of showing purebred dogs recognized by the American Kennel Club.Since I was a little girl I have always cherished dogs as my companions. Growing up, I lived with several dogs of different breeds; in fact, there has never been a moment in my life where I have had to go without at least one dog. I cannot even imagine life without a pet, more often reffered to as a "best friend." My wonderful mother, Lynda, & I got into the sport of showing purebred dogs in early 1990, I was a mere 7 years old. She & my father, Ken, purchased our very first show dog, a mastiff, from Barbara House, of Brite Star Mastiffs. We entered & attended our first dog show, & from that moment on we were hooked... and so began Wannabe Run Mastiffs.Ch. Brite Stars Moses of Wannabe, CD, WD, CGC, TDI, better known as Moses, was our first Mastiff. He was & always will be one of the finest Mastiffs I have ever known. Considering we bought him as a 'pet' I am honored to say he finished his championship rather quickly. Our dog show career started with my mom on the end of his leash in the ring. Not too long after that was I grabbing the lead out of her hand demanding she let me show him. At that point, knowing how determined I was, my mom & dad decided it would be best for them to purchase me a Mastiff of my own.Ch. Brite Star's Mariah Of Wannabe, CD, WD, CGC, TDI was our second Mastiff & she was all mine. I finished her AKC championship in conformation before the age of ten & showed her in junior showmanship once I was of age. I succeeded in winning Best Junior Handler at every Mastiff Club of America national specialty I competed in as well as several other breeds nationals. I was a Westminster Junior Handler qualifier every year I competed & attended Westminster for the first time accompanied by family (including cousins, grandparents, & siblings) in 1996. I owned & co-owned several other breeds while competing as a junior, including Boston Terriers (Wannabe Run's second breed), Vizslas, a Brittany, & a Labrador Retriever. Wannabe Run acquired a Boston Terrier from long time breeder Carol Enright, of Abbas Bostons, better known to me now as Grandma Carol. I have been active in loving, showing, & breeding Bostons with my mom now for almost 20 years. I eventually stopped competing in Juniors so I could accept a position as a professional dog handler's assistant. I was paid to work for all-breed handler, mentor, & dear friend Mike Stone for several years when I was in my early teens. I worked along side friend & fellow junior at the time, Shea Skinner. As a team we traveled from show to show where Shea & I shared the responsibility of complete & total care for every dog in the box truck on that particular weekend. I also assisted professional handler Frank Cresci & wife, Joan, for two years in my late teens. My tasks as an assistant included walking, feeding, grooming, checking/managing ring times & schedules, organizing equipment within the set-up, setting up/taking down, & showing dogs in the event there was a conflict in schedule times. During this time I was in junior high school, & insisted on being placed in home school. I was home schooled by my mother through the Durham Home School Studies Program during 7th & 8th grade. This gave me the ability to travel all over the country & even out of the country, to do what I loved the most, show dogs. I went back to Durham High School my freshman year to finish the remaining years of my education in public school, & at the same time continued to show dogs every weekend. I graduated from Durham High in 2001 & enrolled as a student at California State University, Chico. When Frank & Joan Cresci officially retired from the sport, I was a senior & I was privileged enough to have the chance to work with several of their clientele who wished to continue showing their dogs with me on the end of the lead as their professional handler. This is when I decided to go out on my own & no longer work as an assistant. I graduated in the spring of 2006 from CSUChico, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, & a minor in Spanish. I pride myself in the small business I started at 18 & continue to run to this day. I live in a spacious two-story, three bedroom home in a relatively new residential neighborhood where I have lived for a little over seven years now. I am the happy owner of four fabulous dogs (all of which I showed to their AKC championships) & one extraordinary cat. I currently live with an 11 year old Mastiff, Josie, who is the last of Wannabe Run's Mastiff breeding program, Chelsea, a five year old Rottweiler bred and co-owned by Wendi Lewellen of Chancellor's Rottweilers, a 3 year old Boston Terrier named Bentlee, a 2 year old Mastiff named Brigade, whom I co-bred and co-own with Rosemary Dickson of BlueLead Mastiffs, & of course the leader of them all, my 10 year old magnificent cat, MeowMeow. Having diverse work experience has aided me in becoming a successful business owner. I worked various other jobs while attending college in addition to showing dogs professionally. I was a life guard for the City of Chico for 3 years, worked as a counter clerk at a local donut shop for 4 years, served for Logans Roadhouse, & was a floor sales associate for Victorias Secret. I am currently employed by fedEx Express and work Monday-Friday in the CICA FedEx location as CSA. As much as I am greatful for and appreciate my position within the corporate level working world, no job will ever compare to the dog show world in my eyes. The decision to pursue handling dogs as my profession has been one of the best decisions I have made. Wannabe Run no longer breeds Mastiffs, however I recently co-bred a litter with Bluelead Kennels, of which I kept the pick male show puppy, Bluelead's Uncommon Valor of Wannabe. I continue to be committed to the breeding and showing of great temperamented, healthy, structurally sound English Mastiffs and I will always have a great love for the breed. My mom and I continue to be the proud breeders of Wannabe Run Boston Terriers. The most recent addition to Wannabe Run is the Long Coated Chihuahua, of which we now have 3. My parents also own a Vizsla, a French Bulldog, & a Pug. Wannabe Run, to date, has completed over 35 AKC championships & achieved over 200 titles in competitions such as obedience, rally, agility, fly-ball, carting, tracking, & therapy work.In my eyes, my mother is the epitome of what a responsible dog owner/breeder should be. Her extreme devotion to rescue has saved many dogs lives & given them a chance at providing companionship to numerous families over the years. I admire her dedication. She has always supported me & my love for the sport. Without her enthusiasm & motivation to drive me all over the United States for shows, & without my fathers full support & willingness to stay home with the pooches while we were out of town, I could never have accomplished all that I have thus far. They gave me every opportunity possible to persevere in the area of my talent. To them, I am forever grateful. Some of my most memorable achievements over the years include 4 all-breed Best In Shows on 4 different breeds (German Shorthaired Pointer, Afghan Hound- "Merlin," Alaskan Malamute- "Polar," Vizsla- "Briseis"), winning multiple Best In Specialty Shows on multiple different breeds, completing Rottweiler Ch. Chancellors Felonious Behavyrs Rally Novice title, finishing hundreds of AKC championships for Wannabe Run, my clients, & friends, earning a leg toward a Companion Dog title on a Mastiff at age ten, being awarded Best Opposite Sex with Multi BISS Ch. Sunwoods Lamburgini, "Dylan," at the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club dog show, one of my most recent successes- one I will never forget and cherish for the rest of my life- winning Best Of Breed at the Boston Terrier Club of America National Specialty in Connecticut with Dylan, my first national specialty BOB, along with several more.I am a breeder/owner/handler who embodies a genuine compassion for the sport & well being of all dogs, especially those that are ever at the end of my leash. I truly believe in educating the public on responsible dog ownership & am inspired to take full advantage of the hobby I get to enjoy as a profession. I truly love my job. I hope to provide an enjoyable dog show experience for those who hire my services, demonstrate good sportsmanship, conduct & professionalism, & exhibit good quality & tempered specimens of the breeds I choose to handle.Thank you again for visiting Piercy Professional Handling!Sincerely,Erin Piercy
