When buying a Fiberglass Pool you need to remember that you are making an investment. You should be asking yourself the question What is the cost of ownership? This question is much more accurate when compairing pool prices. I have found that the initial cost of a Fiberglass pool can be 5%-10% higher initially to be installed as compaired to a vinyl liner pool. Concrete or gunite pools have such a wide cost range depending on location, contractor, and design. Usually final gunite prices are substantial higher than fiberglass or liner pools though. Fiberglass Pools save you money in the following ways:
a) Lower chemical costs
b)Lower cleaning costs and time
c)Longevity and warrantee
d)No liner replacement or concrete repairs
e)Faster installation time
For a standard Leisure Pool installation project you can figure a week to ten days. Projects become longer in time depending on the extras involved in the project. Larger decks, slides, pool houses, fencing, automatic pool covers, water features, tanning decks, and other accessories add time to your project.
Akins Excavating has been a full service excavating company for near 25 years. We have experience in sewer/water hookups, septic systems, ponds, demolition, concrete, landscaping, elevations and grade work, driveways, residential and commercial site preparation, and yes swimming pools!!!
We found out a few years ago that we didnt like what we were seeing in the pool industry. We would come and excavate for many different style of pools for many different pool companies. We were always disappointed in the quality and integrity of what we witnessed. It was our goal to add a swimming pool division to our company that gave customers what they pay for.
Partnering with our 2 current fiberglass companies, Leisure Pools and Integrity Fiberglass Pools of Indiana, has helped us accomplish that goal. We did not see a need to change the name of our company. We have a great reputation in our industry and our pool installations are no different.
Leisure Pools introduced their first deep pool in 2010. The GRAND RIVIERA is finished and is an awesome option for those wanting a deep end pool. Integrity Fiberglass Pools is also developing a few deep end pools that will be available in 2012. Deep end pools can be a nice option, but we have always been concerned about liability, total pool usage, space, maintenance, and cost.
I love this question because it really depends on the family and the type of decision you make on a pool. If you are going to buy a cheap pool that is going to cost you time, money, and heartache, then I say go with the ski boat or head to Hawaii. However, buying a Leisure or Integrity Pool is an awesome investment. It will transform your home and allow you both the water feature you have dreamed of and also a vacation spot right in your back yard. It can add value to your home and give you years of enjoyment for not only your family, but your friends as well.
There seems to be a myth floating around about fiberglass pools that is very much misinformed. Both Leisure Pools and Integrity Fiberglass Pools are great for cold climates that see freezing and thawing. They are extremely well built but also have the ability to withstand the moving of the earth that happens in cold climates. Concrete has a much harder time with this environment as do liners. Leisure is definitely the best choice in the northern states.
ABSOLUTELY!
One of the big mistakes I see from homeowners is that they price themselves out of a pool because of all the options. During the initially planning portion of your project, plan for future options. Leave room for more decking, plumb for future water features, plumb for a slide, leave room for that salt system, plan for a pool house/shed, landscape next year, get your winter cover in the fall, or leave that pool sweep for next spring. Be careful not to price yourself out of a pool with all the extras!
Because of the savings you see with a Fiberglass Pool you can figure about $1/day for electricity and chemicals. Gas can range depending on how you heat your pool. A solar cover is a great investment and can really save you money on heating costs. Additionally a heat pump instead of a gas heater will cost less to operate, but is a larger investment up front. We usually budget about $500 a summer for our pool. That included chemicals, gas, electricity, and some toys for the pool. That price can vary due to size of your pool, but that has been our experience with our pool.
Hopefully, you have made the wise choice to go with a Fiberglass Pool built by Akins Excavating. Our goal is to build you a pool that is low maintenance and will last you a lifetime. One thing I will say is that pool ownership for us has become a lifestyle. We love to entertain and have our kids at OUR house. A Fiberglass Pool is easy to keep clean and gives you more time for pool enjoyment. My wife and I spend average about 15 minutes together in the evening messing with the pool. That may be cleaning up around it, landscaping, sweeping, chemicals, or whatever. We do it together and really enjoy the time spent together on our little oasis.
