Tango Dj
Alejandro "El Pibe" Muñoz, started Djing in his home town of Malmö and has played at all the best milongas in town.
He plays traditional tango from the 30s, 40s and 50s.
Tangos from the great orchestras, such as Orquesta Tipica Victor, Troilo, D'Arienzo, Tanturi, Di Sarli, Caló - to name but a few.
As a tango dancer I know that the music is the energy source for your dance with the power to lift or break the whole evening. The job of the Dj is an essential component of the milonga, as a Dj you have to feel what the dancers want at any particular moment of the night. The tangos that you choose need to project energy to the dancers giving them fuel, so they can feed of the music and continue the night.
I play tandas and strive for every tanda to generate new energy and a different mood to the dancers at the milonga.
The cortina plays an important role for a dancer during the night, the cortina tells you when the tanda is finished and a new tanda is about to start, so you can express your gratitude to your partner. I always use cortinas when djing.
The tangos from the 30s, 40s and 50s have so much to give you as a dancer; they are extremely complex and contain the essential elements of energy, joy and passion. Therefore I play traditional tangos from well-known orchestras from this era when Djing.
