What is recycled silver?
ellebelle studio's personalized pendants are created using a product called Precious Metal Clay (PMC). PMC is a relatively new material in the jewelry world that was developed by the Mitsubishi Materials Corporation in the early 1990's. Scientists there were looking for new ways to use their mined and recycled precious metals (some of which came from photo stock, negatives, as well as the computer industry.) The result was PMC. PMC is comprised of micro-fine particles of pure silver (other mediums include copper, bronze, and steel) suspended in a "clay" consisting of water and an organic binder. When the clay is fired in a jeweler's kiln, the binder burns off, leaving a pure silver piece.
Sterling Silver vs. Pure Silver
Sterling silver is comprised of 92.5% silver and 7.5% of one or more other metals (ie: copper, titanium, platinum, and palladium.) The addition of another metal creates an alloy. Sterling silver is stronger than pure silver, but as an alloy, it tarnishes more quickly.
Pure silver is comprised of 99.9% silver, nothing more and nothing less.
How are our personalized pendants made?
All ellebelle studio personalized pendants are designed, created, and finished by Michelle Bell. Pieces are handcrafted out of PMC. Because each piece is completely handcrafted, no two pieces will be identical in shape or size. Words will not be precisely aligned, spaced, stamped, or darkened. Variations are to be expected and are not considered flaws. Our personalized pendants will never be crafted from premade stamping blanks. All pieces are truly one of a kind, and we feel that you will treasure your unique piece for a lifetime.
Three simple words that have driven Michelle Bell to where she is today. Prior to the birth of her daughter, in 2000, Michelle worked in the fashion industry as a manager for top retailers. While well respected within her field, she never felt a passion for her profession. With the birth of Lindsey ("ElleBelle"), Michelle's focus went from career minded professional to stay at home mom and homemaker overnight.
While being home full time, Michelle had time to dabble in various crafts and hobbies. In early 2010, she was introduced to Precious Metal Clay, and was instantly hooked. She had found her passion in, of all things, "clay." As Michelle explained to her daughter, "Sometimes we need to take a few steps back in order to keep moving forward." She realized that what made her happiest as a child - playing with clay - made her happy in her forties as well. Today, she is able to combine her love for artistic creativity and her background in retail, making one of a kind, personalized pendants for her clients.

All pendants are handcrafted out of Precious Metal Clay by Michelle Bell. Once fired in a kiln, your one of a kind personalized pendant will be .999% pure silver. Several different shapes are available, including: Round, Square, Heart, and Mini Round. Pendants are handstamped with a word or phrase of your liking, and may also be further personalized with a cubic zirconia birthstone.
Twinkle Tags are a great way to add some additional flair to your ellebelle studio pendants. Made of PMC, these little tags are approximately 1/4" to 1/3" in size and have one cubic zirconia gemstone. They can be added directly to your pendant (see picture), or can hang seperately.
Modern birthstone colors are available.

Chains and charms can be added to your personalized pendant for a complete package. Our snake style chains are sterling silver and come from Italy. Our photo charm is also sterling silver and is double sided - why only have one picture of your treasured loved one, when you can have two? Our photo charm can be attached to your pendant as seen below, or it can also hang seperately.
