I make funny faces, and I think I have always been an unsuspecting dork. I am a Lumbee Indian and I love frozen yogurt. I grew up in a really small, southern town in North Carolina, where I gained an infatuation for sweet tea and biscuits and gravy at an early age, a past time that now haunts me.
I began singing and acting in musical theater when I was 8 years old, against my tomboy desires, and fell in love with it immediately (thanks, mamma and daddy). It was then that I began my young career as a professional singer and actress. I was the only kid in my elementary school who craved silent lunches, so I could sit quietly and read my scripts.
I was awarded two full scholarships to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and earned the university standing of Public Service Scholar for my love and service in philanthropy. While at UNC, I prepared my undergraduate educational didactic to fit a pre-med track and loved studying emergency medicine. I thought it would come in handy if I was ever cast as a doctor on Greys Anatomy. I also dove into the dramatic arts program, where I studied under some of the most talented instructors I could have asked for.
Although I spend a great deal of time acting, I started my professional career in the entertainment world as a singer when I was fourteen. Since then, I have performed and shared the stage with music legends such as Lee Greenwood, Alabama, Percy Sledge, and I have performed on stages all across the country and even on the surface of the ocean. I was 3rd runner-up at Miss North Carolina in 2003, which gave me a platform to expand my performance opportunities. I also learned about the infamous "butt glue" which is actually spray WOOD glue. No one told me this until they were finished spraying it. Sabotage? That's up for debate.
In 2006 I was lucky enough to release an EP in 2006 that highlighted a little of my songwriting penmanship, and am preparing to release a fully produced album with some great new songs soon. I have always believed that acting and music have such a beautiful connection, and I have always been expanding my talents in both.
