All the members of the Local Organizing Committee are doing their utmost best to make this event unforgettable.

Yorkshires vibe is one to be experienced by all so dont miss your chance! You can find the programme on this website.
The Leeds Dental Institute has under gone a whole new refurbishment with brand spanking new clinics you will be the first set of international students few to visit them. The theme of the meeting is Ethics and Managing Patient Expectations. This was chosen because Leeds has always focused on patient care ensuring it is never compromised. Well respected clinicians will be giving talks on how our treatment choices can affect patients and what can be done to prevent mistreatment. More information about the speakers will be added on our site very soon.
After the serious part comes the fun part and we have planned a lot of great events for you. EDSA Leeds
2011 is slowly creeping up on us and that means time for another EDSA Conference, this time being held in Leeds. So keep Sunday 10th April-Saturday 16th April 2011 free in your diaries since Leeds is where its at.
With a preliminary programme of events written up, you can expect a week packed full of activity and fun. Theres a dental trade fair to attend with the prospect of dentally-related freebies. Also on the agenda is a hop-on open bus tour around Leeds with its 12 stops that include the Royal Armouries Museum; its a great way to explore the city and manage to pack everything into one day. Of course weve also decided to glam it up a bit at the Leeds EDSA Conference. Thats right - were hosting a Leeds EDSA Ball, so remember to bring your glad-rags with you.
Currently the committee is trying to finalise all the plans to make EDSA Leeds an unforgettable event. So watch this space for more information.
What is EDSA?
The European Dental Students Association (EDSA) was founded in Paris in 1988. It now represents over 65,000 dental students from 35 countries.
More and more dental students do see the need of coming together and talk about their differences but even more about the things they have in common.
It is a non-political organisation whose objectives are:
-Inform students about the E.C. organisation and politics in relation to dentistry;
- Promote, inquire and describe the standardisation of dental curriculam within European dental schools.
- Promote exchange programs and encourage students to take part in these programs;
- Encourage national dental students associations to co-operate on a national level;
- Create possibilities to encourage students to meet each other on an individual level.
The EDSA Meeting
EDSA meetings take place twice a year, all the delegates of the European Dental Students Association come together to brainstorm for new projects and keep improving the existing. Furthermore, we discuss dental politics, social and domestic affairs.

Leeds is a city in the north of England in the Yorkshire area (West Yorkshire to be specific). It roots trace back to the fifth century, but nowadays its mostly known for its vibrant nightlife, great shopping, which includes Europes largest indoor market, and the world famous Headingley Stadium.
Leeds itself is filled with things to do. There are museums aplenty, the most impressive of which undoubtedly being the award-winning Royal Armouries with its famous collection of arms and armour that make up over 8000 exhibits spanning 3000 years of history. For art lovers theres Leeds City Art Gallery in the centre of town while for those more interested in the exotic there Tropical World. But if youre looking for something more grand theres always Leeds finest stately home, Harewood House, which also has a planetarium on site.

Every dental school is unique and Leeds is no different. Clinical instruction and patient contact starts from first year and learning is integrated throughout the five years.
The majority of dental learning at Leeds takes place inside the Worsley Building, with lectures, clinical skills labs, and the dental hospital itself, though in fourth year you also get the opportunity to work in outreach practices in the Yorkshire area and spend some time in a general hospital setting. Moreover, the whole of the dental hospital has just been refurbished so its easier to cater for the yearly intake of almost 100 dental students.
Leeds also prides itself on its Oral Biological Sciences department and its innovative research and development. In the recent UK Research Assessment Exercise 60% of Leeds dental research was rated as world leading or internationally excellent.
On a more social side, Leeds DentSoc organises events throughout the year from the lavish Dental Ball to the comedic Dental Revue Show that showcases acts ranging from dental blind date to tutors doing magic tricks. Other highlights include: the Dental Otley Run, a pub crawl with its high costume standards; the Dental Bop to introduce the first years to the upper years; the Inter-year Sports Day for the more active dental students; the Leavers BBQ that acts as a send off to the final years students; as well as a bunch of small events dotted around the year.
