RHODA'S BUCKEYES2 lb Peanut Butter (room temperature)1 lb Butter or Margarine3 lb Powder Sugar2 12 oz. Packages of Chocolate ChipsMix peanut butter and butter/margarine. Add powder sugar and stir until smooth. Form balls and chill. Melt chocolate chips and some paraffin in top of double boiler. Historically, Ladies' Ministry has played a significant role in Canton Pentecostal Temple. From the purchasing of the church here at 950 McKinley Avenue Northwest in 1953, the ladies organized several auctions to pay for the church and even now they raise money for various projects for the church. The Ladies' Ministry is a vital part for the future of the church. They have remained strong through the years and continue to be strong with a great future. We appreciate all of their hard work and effort. If you are looking for various activities like tea parties, spaghetti dinners, basket auctions and ladies' retreats, you need to be a part of this ministry.

BigCity is a fun and exciting place for children ages birth-6th grade to come each Sunday at CPT and experience lively and interactive worship songs, creative Bible teaching and relationship building activities in an atmosphere full of energy and love.BigCity, you will find qualified and caring leaders who work hard to provide an environment where kids feel safe and valued.BigCity - is designed to equip children to move forward in their relationship with God. We provide an age-appropriate environment for every child with exciting experiences including a high-energy stage production, lively worship, and interactive small groups. It is a place that Kids (1st – 5th grade) learn to apply Biblical truths to their young lives, becoming life-long followers of Christ.
CoffeeHouse-meets the 2nd and 4th Sunday evening at 6:00pm at the church campus. Our dream is to capture the hearts of students in this generation through relevant teaching, intimate worship, caring leaders, relationship building events, and a world view that gives opportunity to serve through missions. We are passionate about winning students for the cause of Christ!

Missions have always been a large part of our outreach to the world and locally. We help support several missionaries in different countries. The Meltons are missionaries in Honduras. They have been supported by the Women's Ministries for several years.God placed a burning desire on Bill Hester's heart to start a Food Bank here at Canton Pentecostal Temple. Through his prayer, determination and hard work, he was able to accomplsh this monumental task. Each week Bill Hester and Tim Ledford go to the Akron Canton Food Bank to pick and choose what they think our guest would need to survive. The second and fourth Sunday night of the month we open the Food Bank. There are many people who assist in making this program successful. There is no charge for the food and anything we give out. However, there is a charge from the foodbank for some of the product and supplies we pick up at from the Akron Canton Food Bank. We do not pass these on. We do accept donations to help offset this cost. Our hours of operation are the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month starting at 7:30 pm.
History

ABOUT US

The Pentecostal Church of Christ began in Flatwoods, KY. In 1934, Elliot Skaggs, a Pentecostal Church of Christ minister, conducted services in a fire station located on Navarra Road in Canton, Ohio. In 1936 they relocated to a store-front on Marion Avenue in Canton, Ohio. Following Reverend Elliot Scaggs was Chester Miller, Al Snedley, Carl Calihan, Denver Crumbaker and McClellan Scott. When Reverend Scott was pastor, the congregation moved to south McKinley Avenue in 1945 to what is referred to as the “Church in the Alley”. At that location Reverend Scott was followed by Reverend Johnny Adkins, Reverend Alfred Moore, and Reverend Curtis Conley. While Reverend Conley was pastor, a larger church building in downtown Canton became available. The building was located at 950 McKinley Avenue and was called the McKinley Avenue Temple. The Jewish congregation attending there at that time had grown too large for the facility. In 1953, the building at 950 McKinley Avenue was purchased from the Jewish congregation now known as Temple Israel.The Flatwoods ChurchAfter the “Church in the Alley” moved to its new location, the church withdrew from the Pentecostal Church of Christ to become an independent church known as Canton Pentecostal Temple. Working with Reverend Curtis Conley was Warren Carr as an assistant pastor. Following Conley was Reverend William Cox (1956-1957 a Pentecostal Church of God minister). Reverend John Turner was pastor from 1957-1974. Reverend Troy L. Bannister has been pastor from 1974 to the present. Since Reverend Bannister has been pastor, his vision to expand brought about the purchase of eight adjacent properties which have been added to the church complex. Two of the additional buildings are also of historical significance. One of the buildings is a house that was built in the 1800s and is used as a guest house. The church’s activity center was a fire station that was built about the mid 1800s. The additional properties were purchased well before the need to use them came about. The need for these additional properties are just now being realized. The parking has been expanded and improved, and all facilities are used on nearly a daily basis. Canton Pentecostal Temple continues to grow and stands strong and confident in the Lord today throughout the many changes that have taken place in its history, and the many promises that have been made for the future.
