The Havel Scholarship is aimed at students from disadvantaged groups. It is a project led by recent graduates.

About the new Havel Scholarship

At the initiative of a group of graduating students, Chhavi Maggu, Courtney Kaye, Dora Robinson and Marie Smetánková, the English College in Prague is planning to offer a scholarship aimed at students from disadvantaged groups. The aims of the English College include: * To provide a broad education embodying academic, aesthetic, moral and social values * To promote a love of learning and achievement of the highest academic standards * To promote liberal and democratic values * To foster the belief that service to others is both a duty and a privilege This scholarship would give a student who would not otherwise be able to enjoy such a great education the opportunity attend the English College in Prague. Applications will be encouraged from minority and other disadvantaged groups. The English College Prague prides itself on the diverse backgrounds of its students and its open and tolerant atmosphere. Combining the best qualities of an international community and British education within a Czech environment, ECP aims to educate future leaders. The aim of the scholarship would be to extend the diversity of ECP, thus benefiting the school community and fostering long term understanding as well as offering a great educational opportunity to the recipient. Funds are initially being raised to fund a two year scholarship costing 200 000Kc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------ANGLICKÉ GYMNÁZIUM V PRAZE NOVÉ STIPENDIUM Z iniciativy skupiny bývalých studentů chce Anglické Gymnázium v Praze nabídnout nové stipendium, které se zaměřuje na studenty ze sociálně znevýhodněného prostředí. Mezi cíle Anglického Gymnázia patří: * Poskytovat komplexní vzdělání a vštěpovat studentům akademické, estetické, morální a společenské hodnoty. * Podporovat lásku k vědění a učení a umožnit studentům maximálně rozvinout svůj talent a získat co nejvyšší akademické vzdělání. * Podporovat demokratické a liberální hodnoty a mezinárodní rozhled. * Pěstovat přesvědčení, že služba a pomoc druhým jsou jak naší povinností, tak výsadou. Toto stipendium poskytne studentům, kteří by jinak neměli šanci dostat tak kvalitní vzdělání, příležitost studovat na Anglickém Gymnáziu v Praze po dobu dvou let. Žádosti o stipendium budou vítány hlavně od studentů ze sociálně znevýhodněného prostředí. Anglické Gymnázium v Praze si zakládá na rozmanitosti kultur a rodinných zázemí svých studentů a na svém otevřeném a tolerantním prostředí. Kombinací těch nejlepších vlastností mezinárodní komunity a Britské výuky v českém prostředí se Anglické Gymnázium snaží vychovat budoucí vůdčí osobnosti. Cílem nového stipendia by bylo rozšířit rozmanitost Anglického Gymnázia, a tímto prospět školní komunitě a přitom poskytnout novému studentovi šanci vzdělávat se na tak jedinečné škole. Cílem je získat dost peněz na zaplacení dvouletého stipendia, které stojí 200 000 Kč.
