OBJECTIVE, METHOD
Objectives People learn most effectively when working on real-life problems occurring in their own workplaces. Improve learning, experiment and/or enhance Action Learning (AL) techniques is the principal main aim of the present Comenius and Grundtvig initiative. It is not a traditional course . Rather, it is a learnshop aimed at strengthening the participant's skills in moderating and coordinating formal and informal groups with Action Learning methods.
Briefly, the "learnshop" will assist participants in :
improving their communication skills and experimenting specific methods and tools based on chosen themes,
facilitating thematic work-groups,
moderating workshops and debates and defining final results,
helping people in solving problems and achieving results,
reinforcing the decision-making process in work groups,
supporting people in their learning process.
Method Bearing in mind this specific type of training course; that is: learnshop, the method will be:
Interactive : based on exchange of information between participants. No traditional lessons but rather plenary sessions, small work groups, brainstorming and debates, presentations and simulations.
Customized to participants expectations and needs. Participants will work on their own actual projects or cases strictly related to their professionals activities and environments.
Strict in planning contents and methods and following a common learning path with common objectives. Participants will pace themselves to the collective training method in line according to their familiarity with Action Learning (AL).
At the kick-off of the learnshop, participants will agree on one or more contexts (realities to discuss), i.e.: institution, team, network, project or plan, event. The chosen projects/cases will be illustrated and, at the end of the course, discussed in the plenary session.
During and on conclusion of the learnshop day, evaluation and self-evaluation will be recorded and written-up. Reflective thinking is an integral part of AL. In the final evaluation session, feedback from trainees will be retrieved and elaborated by means of a short questionnaire.
