The breeding facility at Crookedstane has been developed to establish sustainable captive populations of various species of eagle. Eagles are under pressure in the wild, mainly from human interference, habitat loss and pursecution and whilst there are in situ projects to protect the rarest and most vunerable species sustainable captive populations ex situ should also have been established . Eagles do not easily breed in captivity, here at Crookedstane we are continualy refining our methods to improve breeding success's. It is only when we can understand the nature of these magnificent birds at first hand can we help the wild populations with protection and reintroductions. A number of eagle species are bred at Crookedstane. A few are available each year. Contact Andrew Knowles-Brown for further details. Email:- E_gles.me.uk

Large discounts for bulk purchaseSituated in Southern Scotland, close to the M74, for collection only we cover Scotland and Northern England. The only UK agent importing directly from Holland.Day old chicks are supplied by Kiezebrink U.K. Ltd and are an import animal food. They form an important part of the food for falconers birds and zoos. Not only birds of prey, but also common cranes, otters, reptiles, felines, flamingos etc. they all consume day old chicks on a large scale .On average day old chicks account for 25 to 33% of the total amount of meat that is used in a zoo. In addition, day old chicks are of vital importance for falconry. Therefore the quality of the chicken is also of great importance. This is why the greatest care is given to the entire production process. The quality process starts in the poultry hatchery. In order to slaughter the chicks without unnecessary stress or pain, a recently developed technique is applied, which transports chickens to an area that is filled with at least 80% CO2. In this atmosphere it is impossible for animals to survive. Because the concentration CO2 is so high, the animals are unconscious within 10 seconds at most and they die within 4 minutes. This is the only method that is permitted by the European government for processing chickens into animal food. Every day fresh Every day and sometimes several times a day the chicks are collected at the poultry hatchery. As soon as the chicks have arrived, they are cooled and dried in a separate room. After this, they are sorted and packed and then frozen within 24 hours at a temperature of -30 degrees Celsius. After the freezing process the boxs are stored in the refrigerated warehouse, ready for transport to the final destination. Quality comes first In order to meet the regulations of the government, each step in the production process is laid down and registered. Each box is given a label, on which the important production data is stated, such as the veterinary number, the hatchery code and the production date. This process is part of the quality programme that has been especially developed for the production of animal food of animal origin. This programme is completely in line with the Integral Chain Management programme IKB Kip. Also available depending on availability is duck neck, chicken portions, whole chicken, rabbit shoulder, whole rabbit and pigeon all of which are produced for human consumption. Quail are UK sourced from Greenham quail in East Sussex, prime grown on quail are available as well as ex layers.Rodents are also available, rats and mice, various sizes depending on whats available at the time of delivery.Contact Andrew Knowles-Brown for up to date pricing details, discounts for members of the Scottish Hawking club and bulk orders.
