Singer, songwriter and guitarist from Golden, Colorado, has entertained audiences as solo artist and as a member of the bands ShakeyGround, New West and the Unity Project for 25 years.
Raised by two professional vocalists, Steve learned to play guitar as a ten year old.
He wrote his first original songs at the tender age of eleven and in high school Steve was the #1 rated tenor in the State of Minnesota for three consecutive years.
In 1986 and 1987, two of his original songs, "Radiance" and "All Inside You" received national radio airplay on Adult Contemporary stations. During this time he was the most requested artist in a one month period on Boulder, Colorado's own KBCO radio.
Steve placed 2nd in the 1992 Colorado Composers Classic and was asked to open for Dan Fogelberg's tour that same year. In 2002, he was asked to audition as a vocalist for Bonnie Raitts band after one of Bonnie's band members heard his gospel performances at a local church.
He turned down both opportunities, staying close to home to raise his two children.
In 2008, Steve's first full length CD of original music, "Velvet Pictures of Elvis" was released.
The release of Steve's first full length CD of original music has brought Steve and his hot band much well deserved recognition locally and nationally.
In February, Steve auditioned for the NBC television show "The Nashville Star" at "The Grizzley Rose" in Denver, one of the top 5 country bars in the U.S.A.! Although suffering from a severe cold/flu for the previous week, almost losing his voice entirely, Steve preformed well enough to advance to the national call-backs in Austin, Texas.
In March, Steve travelled to Austin, Texas for the national call-back auditions for
The Nashville Star. Also in March, Steve and his band were recorded live performing three of Steve's original songs in the legendary Studio C at KBCO Radio in Boulder, Colorado. This performance was also filmed for an upcoming spot on the Frontier Airlines Wild Blue Yonder Network, together with a live interview with Steve.
At the beginning of May, Steve travelled to Santa Fe, New Mexico with drummer Gayan Gregory Long to play a series of events and concerts. At the end of May, Steve and his hot band played on the main stage at the Boulder Creek Festival. This show was recorded and filmed for an upcoming video.
Over the summer, Steve has written more original songs including "Coyote Moon" and "Can I Make It Up To You", as well as "Glimpses of Deborah" which was co-written with Gregory "Gayan" Long. All three songs will be recorded in the studio this fall prior to an upcoming trip to Nashville, Tennessee (read on).
Steve has been invited to participate as one of 16 selected songwriters from around the country at Barbara Cloyd's "Play For The Publishers" workshop which is being held at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee!
In the mean time, watch for Steve's acoustic performances and live performances with Steve's hot six piece band throughout the upcoming months.
