MISSION STATEMENT
Dustin's primary mission is to write songs that communicate the deep need we all have as people to fully connect with God the Father through Jesus Christ by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and then to share those songs through live performances and recordings. As a songwriter, his goal is to communicate what many people feel and need, but have trouble expressing. As a worship leader, his goal is to "get out of the way" and let people connect with God by participating in the singing of songs that the Lord has given to him and to other songwriters in the body.
BIO
Dustin was born and raised in Denver, CO. He lives in Aurora, CO with his beautiful wife Michelle and 2 of his 6 children, ages 4 through 15 (the other 4 live in Texas with their mom). He has served on several church staffs over the last 20 years in both youth and worship pastor positions. Dustin currently leads worship for the Celebrate Recovery ministry at his home church, Smoky Hill Vineyard in Centennial, CO.
Dustin taught himself to play guitar almost 20 years ago and began turning the poetry he had written all his life into songs almost immediately. Songwriting has been his passion, his calling, and what he feels is his greatest gifting, although the performance side, including leading corporate worship, has also been a priority and lots of fun. One of the greatest moments in a songwriter's career is when he or she is able to teach a group of people an original song and hear them connect with it and sing it to the Lord in true praise and worship - Dustin has been fortunate enough to have this happen on multiple occasions.
His initial venture into the indie music thing was in 1991 when he met his now life-long friend Bobby Vigil and they formed (along with a third member) a rap/rock band called Personal Touch. When PT broke up in 1992, Dustin and Bobby stayed together to become the local Denver rap/rock powerhouse Divine Justice. They were gearing up to become what dcTalk eventually did become had they just not gotten sidetracked with marriages, kids, full time jobs and other things that tend to distract the aspiring indie artist/band from devoting 100% of their time to their music ministry. After a successful stint from 1992 through 1996, having put out a 14-song CD and having performed 25-40 shows a year, Divine Justice called it quits.
Dustin's current indie CD release, entitled "My Recovery", was released on July 24, 2009. Dustin and Bobby collaborated again on the project and the songs were recorded at Bobby's home studio in Estes Park, CO. "My Recovery" is a lyrical and musical representation of the recovery process that all Christians (all people, really) need to take at some point in their spiritual journey. Celebrate Recovery is a biblically based, Christ centered 12-step program that helps willing participants get over life's hurts, habits and hang-ups through surrendering to Jesus Christ and adopting a program of recovery principles into their everyday lives. The songs on Dustin's new CD have been inspired by CR and are aimed at helping those that are on the CR path, although they will also connect with all believers on many levels.
"I'm proud of the new project, and so thankful that I was able to accomplish another self-produced recording. I am aware of the deficiencies that come with not having professional equipment or studio help, but regardless of the technical pros and cons, God has given me these great songs and I am blessed to be able to share them with others. These songs are rich in meaning and they are an honest, heartfelt cry in the process of recovering from all the stuff that life has done to us or that we have let life become. If you like my songs and think the CD sounds good, that's great, but if you are able to connect with Jesus as a result of listening to my music, the primary goal has been accomplished."

In addition to songwriting, recording, producing and leading worship for his home church's CR group (Smoky Hill Vineyard) and other churches along the Front Range, Dustin also has a couple other business ventures he maintains.
Dustin's Mobile DJ business, JDS Enterprises, has existed for almost 10 years. Dustin DJs wedding receptions, dances, parties and other events, specifically focusing on a Christian and "clean" music theme. Dustin's Mobile DJ and Public Address business, JDS Enterprises, was created in humble beginnings with life-long friend Bobby Vigil to DJ a few graduation parties around the Denver, CO area in 1996. Between Bobby's PA system & lights and Dustin's music collection and Public Address skills, the pair had a great time learning how to create a party without breaking the bank.
After Dustin moved to the Pueblo area in 1997, he began DJing dances at the local middle school, and also began to DJ multiple wedding receptions with great success. His formula of a great sounding but highly portable PA system, a small but powerful light show, a huge music collection of all types and genres of music, a great gift of announcing what needed to be said (but not saying "too much" or going on and on and...), and super competitive and fair prices, made for fantastic receptions, dances and parties that were very affordable and a blast to attend or host. Also while in Pueblo, he made a name for himself as a rodeo, gymkhana and barrel race announcer with a flair for playing just the right country song to get riders motivated and announcing scores and times with humor and ease.
Since moving back to the Denver area in 2005, Dustin has continued to DJ weddings and dances, and fulfill Public Address duties for banquets and gatherings. His focus is on creating fun events that have a Christian and/or "clean" music theme, and on announcing Christian themed events.
