Double Me
Be on the look out for Double You, Double Me, the first release by Double Me that is just about ready to play outside without any adult supervision. The President of the Sovereign Nations of Double Me, is very pleased with himself these days, and thus grinding us away with an iron fist harder than ever. I volunteered for website duty to avoid re-re-tuning the auto-harp...again. Please listen to these songs so that maybe one day he will let us rest. Enjoy!
Double Me is one guy in a bedroom studio piled with various instruments and a carpet made of guitar cables. He was born and raised in Chicago, in a house that was a hangout for a few local folk musicians. So naturally he started banging on various instruments, and finally started rocking a 3/4 size Peavey Electric. Maintaining a vigorous schedule of jumping from instrument to instrument, recording, and credit card debt, it's about time something was officially released for the ears of others after years and years of throwing songs together and letting them sit.Double You, Double Me, is the product of a very eclectic taste in music ranging from just about everything in the Elephant 6 Collective and the production of artists like Dan the Automator and Madlib, to Grant Green, Kyle Gann, and Al Day. Growing up in a music loving house with access to a lot of different instruments is a really great thing. After a long stint producing hip hop instrumentals and writing his name on walls around Indiana and New Jersey, Double Me finally seems to be settling into a sound that represents what is actually floating around in his ears. And settling nicely into living in BBQ country, he came down to intern and learn from the fine folks at Merge Records and Yep Roc/Red Eye Distribution and ended up staying for the pork and hush puppies. Unfortunately Double Me would not make an official statement regarding his preference of vinegar or tomato based BBQ.
