On Behalf of the Sword of the Spirit Christian Student Ministries, I welcome you to the official site and online headquarters of SOS! I'm glad that you've stopped by!
This year SOS is going to a new level, as we have reconstructed our constitution, revised our executive board, and are executing BIG PLANS for Old Dominion University and the Kingdom at large.
Our theme for 2010 is, "Empowering Agents of Change." With this theme we plan to equip individuals with the necessary tools to become agents of change in all assets of life!

SoS Christian Student Alliance
Sword of the Spirit has been Reaching, Uniting, & Empowering Old Dominion University and the Kingdom at large for over 10 years with the gospel of Jesus Christ! Beginning as a small dorm room get together, founded by two former ODU students, SOS has evolved over the years into a recognized ministry on our campus and in the community!
What We BELIEVE
Our organization is a Non-Denominational christian students organization. The purpose of the Sword of the Spirit organization is to win souls through the provision of interactive activities and ministry opportunities for the Old Dominion University Community, of which will birth agents of change who will change lives and impact the world for Christ.
What Students Like MOST About SoS
Students enjoy our excellence driven enviornment of which fosters an atmosphere of power and influence to the body of Christ through the power of Jesus Christ. Students also enjoy our intimate open discussions, highly acclaimed events, and family connection with one another!
What We DO During Our Meetings
The Structure of our Meetings changes from time to time, but for the most part you can expect us to do the following things during our weekly meetings: Open Mic Sessions, Prayer Sessions, Open Discussion of topics Concerning College Students, Bible Lessons & Devotionals, Weekly Skits performed by our Members, FUN IceBreakers, & other Engaging Activities!

Every Thursday at 7:30pm we all get together for a night Full of Faith, Fun, & Fellowship! From Open Mic Sessions and Juicy Discussions to Inspirational Devotions and Lessons!

This year our theme is "Empowering Agents of Change." In order to be this "agent of change" that we speak of it is imperative to GET INVOLVED! Often times whether it be home, school, or even a work enviornment, we find ourselves laxed, with "nothing" to do! Here at S.O.S. "bored" is a word not found in our vocabulary, as there is ALWAYS something to do!

Executive Board -
The executive board serves as the leadership of the Sword of the Spirit organization. This team leads the organization collectively under the purpose, mission and vision given by God to the President.
QUALIFICATIONS for Office
*One who qualifies for the apponted office in the Sword of the Spirit Organization if;
- one has believed in their heart and confessed with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and savior over their life.
- one is spiritually committed and mature in their relationship with Christ thus prepared for the honorable placement of office.
- one possesses a strong relationship with Jesus Christ, which must be evident in their daily lives.
- one must have a solid Christian foundation and an understanding of basic biblical doctrines of the Christian faith.
- one has a tenacious drive to see the Vision, Purpose, and Mission of the Sword of the Spirit Organization through with excellence.

Music & Fine Arts Ministry -
The music and fine arts ministry is one of the largest ministries in S.O.S. and are always open to more people joining to share the amazing gifts and talents that God has blessed YOU with! Whether you enjoy acting, singing, dancing, poetry, video production, graphic designing, or any other activity that is expressed as an "art" this ministry is for YOU! SUNDAY'S BEST
Derived from the popular show Sunday's Best created by Kirk Franklin comes one of Old Dominion Universitiy's MOST POPULAR talent showcase! Each year hundreds come to see the talent of Old Dominion and to be amazed by the God-given gifts each contestant posess. At this event you will see all forms of talent, from praise dance to rapping (not limited to just singing). LIVE! STAGE PLAY: COLLEGE LIFE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
College Life, is THE MOST popular stage play produced entirely by Old Dominion University students! This life-changing play deals with the public and private issues that college students deal with. Involving issues from prostitutions to homosexuality, these stage plays are equipped to empower everyone who comes to see them! *We are ALWAYS looking for production participants - Be sure to check the EVENTS PAGE to see when COLLEGE LIFE will be hitting OLD DOMINION UNIDERSITY! Evangelism and Outreach Ministry -
As we empower agents of change, we understand that evangelism and outreach are very key components and entities of ministry, to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This ministry is responsible for both on and off campus evangelism and outreach programs! If you have a heart for God and a passion for people's souls saved and set free, this ministry is most definitely for YOU!
Two major groups under the EVANGELISM and OUTREACH ministry, are the Public Relations and Street Teams!
PUBLIC RELATIONS TEAM
The public relations serves as the marketing and sales specialist s for the Sword of the Spirit organization. This team is responsible for all promotions, marketing, and advertising for S.O.S.
STREET TEAM
The street team is one of the most imprtant aspects under the vision of S.O.S. We believe in the scripture; Luke 14:23 - "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." This team does just that through evangelism and outreach projects that compel everyone to come in! If you LOVE people and remember that you were once lost as well, then this ministry is for you!
MEN OF VALOR - Men's Ministry
Building up STRONG men of God, is one of our key focal points at S.O.S! We believe that God is building up men of God who will take authority over the enemy in all aspects of life! This ministry is strategically designed to empower men of God to be true agents of change for Jesus Christ!
Purpose: The purpose of this group is to teach men how to develop a more intimate relationship with God and how to live as young men sold out for Jesus.
Vision: To see young men living out their predestined purpose in Christ as victorious men of valor that seek God in every aspect of their lives.
Vision Statement: "MEN OF VALOR PURSUING THE HEART OF GOD."
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:11 - "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."
DIVINE DESTINY - Women's Ministry
Just as building up STRONG men of God, is one of our key focal points at S.O.S, so is building STRONG women of God! We believe that God is building up women of God who will take authority over the enemy in all aspects of life! This ministry is strategically designed to empower women of God to be true agents of change for Jesus Christ while finding their divine destiny through HIM!
Purpose: The purpose of this group is to teach women how to develop a more intimate relationship with God and how to live as young men sold out for Jesus.
Vision: To see young women living out their predestined purpose in Christ as victorious men of valor that seek God in every aspect of their lives.
Vision Statement: "VIRTUOUS WOMEN BIRTHING DESTINY."
Scripture: Proverbs 31:10 - "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies."
