Eddie Hoey is considered to be one of the most diverse DJ/Producer/Re-mixers in the industry today. With an ever-evolving style, he mixes minimal beats, primal tones, electro grooves and tech-house vibes into an atmospheric roller coaster ride that MOVES THE CROWD unlike anyone else.
Song selection, tension, build ups, climaxes, break downs, on-the-fly remixes and live performances are just a few reasons why Eddie is an absolutely unique DJ.
Known for dropping exclusive remixes, mash-ups and unreleased edits, Eddie can be found literally playing songs you will never hear again. Just ask his fans (especially those who can make it to the end of the set) and they will tell you that these tracks and on-the-fly mixes you hear at the end of Eddies sets are more like a jam session than a DJ set and they are heavily influenced by the night, the crowd and the interactive experience taking place between the audience and the DJ.
Growing up with a musically diverse family, Eddie was influenced by his Mother's vocal, piano and guitar skills and his Father's percussive talents. Early on, Eddie was exposed to and developed an ear for an array of styles and genres including Hip Hop, Rhythm and Blues, Southern Rock, 80s Synth Pop and even Classical. Eddies passion for music began in his earlier years but as a teenager he developed his lyrical writing skills while listening to Hip Hop legends like Cypress Hill, NAS, Tribe Called Quest, De LA Soul and other influential underground New York City rappers.
At 18, a buddy convinced Eddie to experience the notorious sounds coming from the infamous underground Tunnel Night Club. In shock from the pulsating sounds, euphoric atmosphere and bizarre culture, Eddie quickly realized he had found a new home. He finally found house music or rather house music had finally found him. Completely hooked on the feeling and absolutely addicted to the energy, he returned weekend after weekend, party after party, to the underground night club scene to hear and study the amazing music being pumped out of the walls of clubs like Sound Factory, Twilo, Shelter and Vinyl by iconic DJ's like Danny Tenaglia, Jonathan Peters, Paul Van Dyke and Richie Hawtin.
This experience changed everything...It was like everyone around me was also awakening and discovering this new sound and this new lifestyle not to mention this incredible vibe that you only get when you mix great music and great people.
In 2006, the tribal-trance duo, "Internal Tempo" was formed. Eddie brought the pots and pans and the percussive edge while his high school buddy Patrick "Thunderlips" Tarantino brought the trance energy and driving rhythms. The duo have developed an ever expanding fan base with there original compositions which cross genre lines from trance to house and tribal through to latin rap and in-categorizable experimental tracks such as "B-birds", "Bad Don't Listen" and "Don't Tell Your Parents." They've also remixed multiple tracks including Miroslav Terzen's "There are No Rules" which lead to the song being released on DeepLife Records in 2007. This track spread quickly across the United States and internationally to Europe and Latin America.
Over the past few years, Eddie's production and DJ style has evolved from trance meets tribal to minimalist meets tech-house and now to a more experimental mix of glitched and stuttered vocals and deep electro grooves. As always, his mixes are also filled with live percussion and custom home grown sound effects and loops to help guide you through the "ride to the other side."
The music industry has changed and most of us have rolled with the punches but now its time to lead the way in a new direction. Eddie is performing, mixing and producing as a solo artist but is always open to discuss collaboration. His vision has remained "to provide people with the most amazing experience sonically, visually and emotionally possible... and then next weekend, do it again only make it better! "
