As children of God, we need to utilize the weapons that God has given us as we wage war upon the enemy. Praise will silence the enemy and strengthen the children of God. Mission Statement: Weapons of Praise is an outreach ministry
whose purpose is to minister to all women and men through prayer,
and Bible Study and to foster relationships of sisterhood and brotherhood
within the body of Christ which will enable us all to become
effective weapons for the Kingdom.
Biographical Sketch of Minister Watson-Smith
Minister Denise Watson-Smith is a native of Roanoke, Virginia, she is the daughter of Bernice (Watson) Merchant and the late Wesley Watson and the stepdaughter of the late Weldon Merchant. Minister Smith graduated from William Fleming High School ('85), Virginia Western Community College('88) and Liberty University in May, 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Religion. She is currently seeking her Masters of Divinity Degree in Pastoral/Preaching from Liberty Theological Seminary. Denise is employed with Worth Your Wait as a presenter with an organization whose mission is to present the idea of abstinence education to the youth in the counties surrounding the piedmont area. She also owns her own business, Expressions of Love, where she makes gift baskets and jewelry and The Ministry of Sister Lemonade as a Christian Comedianne. Minister Watson- Smith has been working on a devotional that the Lord has placed within her spirit entitled, A New Season, in addition to a book discussing the most painful periods in her life entitled Devastated But Not Defeated.
Minister Smith is married to Deacon Victor Smith, a career counselor with the US Army, an anointed man of God, the love of her life and her very best friend. Her family worships at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church of Charlottesville, VA. The Smiths’ reside in Albemarle County. They are the proud parents of 3 sons, Wesley, Victor II, and Joshua, and 2 daughters, Victoria and JeTashawna.

"Young Men Holding It Down For Jesus"
Our guest this week are the young men who are the founders and the core of DuRag Ministries. DU RAG is an acronym for Divine Unity Righteously Apply God. DU RAG Ministries was founded by Derrick Burroughs, Troy Burnett, and Chris Johnson in January 2005 on the campus of Bridgewater College. DU RAG is not just a witty name; it is a lifestyle in which we press towards. Vision: DU RAG focuses on information, revelation, and application of God's Word in order to develop the individual spiritually that he or she might maximize and utilize their potential in Christ for the Glory of God. Currently God has allowed DU RAG to expand to the surrounding campuses which include: James Madison University, Eastern Mennonite University, and Mary Baldwin College. We also minister to various churches and universities throughout Virginia and Maryland.
DU RAG Ministries purpose is to enlighten students and young adults of exactly how to establish and grow in a TRUE relationship with Christ. DU RAG strives to serve as a second family to many, and to some a first. According to Ephesians 4:13 Divine Unity is something God desires of us while here on earth, so DU RAG desires to be a vehicle for fellowship, worship, and discipleship to young adults. How we Minister: DU RAG is a ministry that encompasses individuals who minister in various ways. In accordance with our vision, we recognize and utilize the gifts God bestows upon individuals in order to edify the body of Christ.
