Fire Extinguisher - Pet Safe
This type of fire extinguisher is not toxic to pets unlike the old powder ABC extinguishers which if inhauled will cause death.
Cold Fire is the ONE foam that can put out ANY fire - faster, safer, cheaper - and never goes bad!
Cold Fire is a non-toxic, eco-friendly fire extinguishing agent that can put out any Class A, B or D fire - structures, brush, cars and tires, metals, hydrocarbons and polar solvents - in less time, with a fraction of the water.
Cold Fire™ works in two ways to remove heat and the fuel sources from the fire triangle. In a liquid fuel fire, it works first as a foaming agent to suppress vapors and smother the flames, and second as a surfactant to mix with the fuel and encapsulate it at the molecular level.
The suppressants in Cold Fire™ use water as a catalyst to remove the heat as well as encapsulate and break down the hydrocarbons in the fuel source to extinguish the fire more rapidly.

7 Tips for Doggie Dental Care (by Cesar Millan)
1. If your dog hasn't received a dental exam, take him to the vet first! He may require a cleaning, and then you can maintain his clean teeth at home.
2. Create a regular dental care routine at home. For example, you can brush your dog's teeth with special canine toothpaste. (Click here for toothpaste recommended by Dee's Pet Care)
3. Never use human toothpaste or mouthwash. They can make your dog sick.
4. Start early! Grown dogs can learn to become comfortable with brushing, but make things easier for yourself by working with your dog as a puppy.
5. Take your dog to the vet if you see signs of dental problems:
•Bad breathe
•Change in eating or chewing habits
•Pawing at the face or mouth
•Depression
•Excessive drooling
•Misaligned or missing teeth
•Discolored, broken, missing or crooked teeth
•Red, swollen, painful or bleeding gums
•Yellowish-brown tartar crust along the gum line
•Bumps or growths within the mouth
6. Aggressive chewing on hard objects can cause broken teeth. Make sure you are providing safe objects for your dog to gnaw on.
7. During your dog's annual check-ups, make sure your veterinarian takes a good look at his or her teeth to keep an eye out for any issue you may miss.
Children and Dogs. Whats important for you to teach your child.
Few images are as evocative of trust, loyalty, and friendship as a child with a puppy. Bonds formed between humans and dogs can be made incredibly strong when the relationship is formed early on, but it's Very Important that our children be Taught how to interact Safely and Responsibly with their canine companions.
Greeting a puppy:
1. Teach the child about "No Touch, No Talk, No Eye Contact."
2. The introduction between puppy and child should be delayed until the child's excitement has passed and he or she is in a calm state of mind, able to focus on adult instruction. Never allow the child to make the first move.
3. Keep an eye on the child's energy levels and note the puppy's reactions. Once you are satisfied that the situation is safe and under your control, show the child the Proper way to give affection.
4. Safety first! Don't be afraid to say no... if the situation appears unsafe for Puppy, inform the child that the dog is in training and can't be pet.
Playtime:
Keep an eye on the scene at All times! Puppies and children should never be left alone together without adult supervision.
1. Set some ground rules for off-limits play. Be sure that the child understands not to pull the puppy's ears, tail or legs.
2. Keep watch for signs of rough play, and Correct the child or redirect his or her energy when needed.
3. Observe the puppy's body language. Step in when you believe the Puppy has had Enough of playtime.
Heath Issues and Cleanliness:
Children are more vulnerable than grown-ups to the illnesses that pets can carry. Here are some helpful tips to avoid risks to your child's health. Animals have also been know to get sick from a human.
1. Make sure the puppy sees a vet regularly.
2. Make sure the child washes his or her hands thoroughly both Before and after playtime.
3. Do not allow playtime around or near the areas where the puppy or dog relieves himself.
4. Any and all excrement should be picked up from the lawn and surrounding areas frequently and properly disposed of.
5. Keep your house clean and safe because child toys can be harmful or swollowed causing internal injuries
to the puppy.
Note: Safety rules apply to all dogs in age or size
Your Dog's Age in Human Years
Though at one time we all believed that one year in your dog's life was the equivalent of seven in a human's life, that's now been proven untrue. Fortunately, veterinarians have developed a more realistic comparison of a dog's age to a human's age, as shown below. Keep in mind, however, that ‘old age will occur at different ages for different dogs. In general, the onset of old age occurs for most dogs between the ages of five and ten, with the larger breed dogs toward the earlier end and the smaller breed dogs toward the latter end.
Dog Years Human Years Dog Years Human Years
5 months 10 years 12 years 64 years
8 months 13 years 13 years 68 years
10 months 14 years 14 years 72 years
1 year 16 years 15 years 76 years
2 years 24 years 16 years 80 years
3 years 28 years 17 years 84 years
4 years 32 years 18 years 88 years
5 years 36 years 19 years 89 years
6 years 40 years 20 years 93 years
7 years 44 years 21 years 96 years
8 years 48 years 22 years 99 years
9 years 52 years 23 years 103 years
10 years 56 years 24 years 106 years
11 years 60 years
With patience and understanding you can teach any old dog new tricks, depending on what you are trying to teach, or un-teach the dog, which is usually more difficult. Dogs can learn at any age, and like humans, its just old habits that are hard to break!
MYTH: Tail Wagging, Happy Dog. A dog wags his tail in three very different moods, only one is happy. When it's unusually high and stiff, the dog is agitated and ready to protect his turf. A tail held low and wagged very quickly shows a scared and submissive dog. A happy dog wags his tail in its natural, mid-level position & his ears, mouth, and body will look relaxed, too.
July 15 marks National Pet Fire Safety Day - this nationwide awareness day educates pet owners about potential risks when pets are left home alone.
Dogs Have a Look of Love. When your dog locks eyes with you, it may genuinely be a look of love, not simply a form of begging. Dogs can develop this atypical behavior with close human companions, while between dogs or with a strange person, a direct stare is a threat. Of course not every glance from Fido is loving, he may ...simply want your dinner. Or, if his body is tense & ears flattened, he may be telling u to back off.
NEVER leave your dog in a parked car. The car retains more heat than an open area, even if it is in the shade. Plus, a dog may get overexcited in the car due to passersby or panic from claustrophobia, making dehydration more likely. On longer trips, make sure you have water for the dog and keep the AC running.
A cat uses its whiskers as feelers to determine if a space is too small to squeeze through.
Dogs see in color, but not the same way that we do. Veterinary ophthalmologists have found that dogs are similar to people with red/green color blindness, meaning they can see bluish and greenish shades but not reddish ones. To a dog, a bright orange ball on a grassy lawn appears as a light greenish ball in greenish grass. Go fetch!
Remember. Animals and fireworks do not mix. Keep your pets indoor, safe at home. Make sure they have IDs on them. Some animals get scared and will run away until the noise/fire stops, which could be miles away. Calming treats, music, ID's and a nice cozy bedroom with water should help keep your pets safe and happy!
