How can I help you?
EMDR:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. A research validated therapeutic approach relying on bi-lateral stimulation of the brain, designed primarily for trauma recovery.
Brainspotting:
A developing therapeutic technique that allows the client to access unconscious storage of memories and information, while simultaneously working in the conscious and subconscious.
Past Life Regression:
A hypnotherapy process of visiting a past life for the purpose of gaining information regarding a present life issue or intention. An audiotape of the session is provided for the client.
Performance Enhancement:
Working toward peak performance with elite and developing athletes. Innovative techniques for general sport issues, specific sport issues, mental/emotional recovery from injury, micro-muscle training and installation of peak performance.
My Philosophy
Effective therapy is client driven. The goal is for the highest good of the individual. My job is to assist the client in identifying their symptoms and their intention for healing. I use a multitude of treatment modalities. Together with my client, we decide the most appropriate therapy, or combination of therapuetic plans, to be used in their healing process. In most cases, the work is intense and intended to be short-term. After one or two sessions, the client will be fully aware of the process of treatment and will determine the modality(s) and course of treatment. Family history and listing of traumatic experiences is usually involved in the work. Rather than use a pathological model, I use a positive and optimistic approach to the healing process. This helps us to achieve your goals of becoming the best that you can be: free of pain, anxiety, depression and fear.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a comprehensive, integrative psychotherapy approach. It contains elements of many effective psychotherapies in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. These include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies.
EMDR is an accellerated information processing therapy and uses a phased approach to address the experiential contributors of a wide range of positive approaches. It attends to the past experiences that have set the groundwork for pathology, then the current situations that trigger dysfunctional emotions, beliefs and sensations, and finally the positive experience needed to enhance future adaptive behaviors for good mental health.
During treatment, various procedures and protocols are used to address the entire clinical picture. One of the procedural elements is "dual stimulation" using either bilateral eye movements, tones or taps. During the reprocessing phases the client attends momentarily to past memories, present triggers, or anticipated future experiences while simultaneously focusing on a set of external stimulus. During that time, clients generally experience the emergence of insight, changes in memories, or new associations. The therapist assists the client to focus on appropriate material before initiation of each subsequent set.
Brainspotting
"Where we look affects how we feel." BSP makes use of this naturally through its use of relevant eye positions. This helps the BSP therapist to locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions. BSP is also a brain-based tool to support the therapeutic relationship. We believe that BSP taps into and harnesses the bodys natural self-scanning and self-healing ability. When a Brainspot is stimulated, the deep brain appears to reflexively signal the therapist that the source of the problem has been found. BSP can also be used to find and strengthen our natural resources and resilience. BSP is designed as a therapeutic tool that can be integrated into many healing modalities. BSP can also be used with performance and creativity enhancement. BSP is even more powerful when used with the enhancement of BioLateral Sound CDs.
A person begins with a few minutes of breathing and listening to headphones to BioLateral sound. The client then finds the spot in their body where they are holding the most distress and rate it from 0 to 10. The therapist helps the client to find an eye position (brainspot) where the eye naturally focuses where the pain feels the strongest. The therapist helps the client to slowly move through the awareness that develops inside after finding the brainspot. What happens is different for each individual and can change with each session. There are visual images, sensation in the body, memories and various feelings. The idea is to allow these natural responses from the trauma to surface. The client can share their experiences with the therapist as they go and shift to different brainspots. The distressed brainspot is significantly lessened by the end of the session. A gentle release of energy happens with the process., unfreezing what was held from the past. The client mostly feels mental relief upon realizing that this disturbance from long ago is no longer upsetting. An alter-sense of change stays with the client outside of the session. Brainspotting does not require "reliving the trauma" as much as it "releases the trauma from the memory." This helps in no longer feeling the pain, upset and distress from those childhood ordeals.* Katherine F.H. Heart
Past Life Regression
Past Life Regression Therapy utilizing clinical hypnotherapy methods can be very effective in assisting clients with overcoming a variety of personal and professional challenges. The purpose of a regression is to heal an issue or a pattern that was established in a past life or lives and carried over into the present life. Past Life Regression Therapy is currently considered alternative therapy or healing arts. Past Life Regression Therapy is a therapeutic process that can provide positive results for individuals seeking a healthy mind and body. A belief in reincarnation, karma or spirituality is useful but not necessary for this therapeutic process to be effective. The only requirement for the client is to have a clear intention for the regression. A typical session will last from 60 to 90 minutes and the client will be provided with an audio recording of the session. Roger's training and certification has been with Julia Ingram, author of The Lost Sisterhood and The Messengers.
Performance Enhancement
Performance Enhancement assists individuals in actualizing their maximum potential. Using a variety of performance enhancement techniques, individuals overcome barriers and maximize strengths. These techniques help to stimulate the brain's information processing system and the rapid healing of psychological barriers that prevent optimal performance.
The specialized techniques used by Roger were originally developed as performance enhancement for athletes, performing artists and business people. These specialized techniques have been proven to be highly effective for performance anxiety, writer's block, recovering from athletic injury and and installing proper athletic movement (micro-muscle training). Another common application is to overcome one's fears with public speaking. It is designed for athletes, musicians, dancers, actors and business people to assist them in continuous performance expansion.
