Home Daytona Team P.O.S.S.E.
Welcome to the official home of Daytona Team P.O.S.S.E.
As one of the longest continually running teams in scenario paintball, our mission is simple. Our mission is to have fun.
Scenario paintball is something we are passionate about. Importance is not placed on winning, but on enjoying the game and playing into the scenario. When we hit the field, there's a pretty good chance that something amazing, or amazingly hilarious is going to happen. We pride ourslves on being risk takers and oddballers, but above all, we pride ourselves in playing with integrity, and respect.
Our team is comprised mostly of players with high risk careers. As Police Officers, Firefighter/Paramedics, and Teachers/Coaches, we enjoy the oppertunity to get out on the field, and consider paintball a great outlet for stress relief.
Wayne's World of Paintball in Ocala, FL is our home away from home, where we are proud to be part of their phenominal paintball family.
Team History Our Story.
In the year 1991, six players from the team originally founded by Wayne Dollack "Marions Raiders" from Survival Zone in Ocala, Florida formed Team P.O.S.S.E. The team was formed with the intent of participating in tournaments. P.O.S.S.E. was originally an acronym for Pneumatic Ordinance Strategic Scenario Experts. In the early 90s Team P.O.S.S.E. played in several tournaments around Florida as well as the International Masters Tournament in Nashville, TN. Two of the original players out of Daytona Beach began wearing patches with "Team P.O.S.S.E. Daytona" on them.
By 1994 the team was down to only a few members and did not attend any tournaments. Seven players on the team, all from Daytona Beach officially changed the name of the team to Daytona Team P.O.S.S.E. The group became more active in the scenario community and participated in occasional tournaments.
In 1995 the team joked that the acronym stood for "Police Officers and Sign Shop Employees" because at that time, all of the members were either Police Officers or city sign shop employees. Their home remained at Waynes World of Paintball and they attended all of the scenario events held at Waynes World.
By 1999 the team had expanded to around 20 players from all over central Florida, and in 2001, a Georgia chapter of the team was added. At that time, the requirements to be a member of the team were as follows; you had to love paintball, and purchase a team t-shirt. Mike "Robocop" Lester was one of the original founding members of Team P.O.S.S.E. and is still very active on the team today.
In 2010 Team P.O.S.S.E. added a "Tank" to our arsenal. The tank allows us to put players on the field of battle who otherwise wouldn't be able to play due to physical and/or medical limtations.
Team members have come and gone over the years with the regular active group hovering around 12 to 16 players. To become a member of Daytona Team P.O.S.S.E. these days, you must be invited by a current member, participate in a minimum of three scenario events, and conduct yourself with integrity and good sportsmanship on and off of the field. P.O.S.S.E. has always been about integrity, respect, and good sportsmanship. Our members have played every role known to scenario paintball. From spies, to generalls, to tank commanders, and referees, we always put fun before victory. Fortunately, the two are usually synonamous. With all of the members who have come and gone, we haven't changed our values. We take great pride in our team's history and our players are always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need, and give back to the sport every chance we get.
Participation in an "Away Game" - a 24 hour scenario away from Wayne's World of Paintball, is commended by the issuance of this L.R.R.P.(Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol) patch.
