Our Story
Davo Hardy has been involved in creative expression and the arts for his entire life.As the middle child, Davo could easily get lost in the chaos of his suburban home on the South Coast of New South Wales. His imagination and creativity were first evident in his flare for creative writing and immersing himself in role play games with his school friends.As Davo grew older, his interests focussed on film and writing, as well as art and performing.At age eight he took his first steps as a filmmaker with his parents' handycam video camera. An exercise that abruptly ended when he attempted his first underwater shot.A much cheaper second-hand camera fell into his possession a few years later. This particular model could only record directly to a VCR, limiting the chance of it being submerged, one would suppose.This limitation, however, introduced Davo to editing between VCRs. In his mid teens, Davo was determined to avoid fast food as he cracked the job market. After a careful check of the legalities, Davo soon found himself regular work as a life-drawing model for community art classes. Though this often took him out of school, Davo completed his HSC with impressive results and a place on the honour roll.Continuing to earn a substantial income from his now professional modeling career, finding himself on regular shifts at universities and photography studios, Davo's ascent into the film industry took on a greater pace when he was awarded a full scholarship to the International Film School in 2008.When the course ended in 2010, Davo had taken some important steps in his filmmaking journey with a string of successful and (not-so-successful) film ventures already on his diverse showreel.Through the talent that remains fiercely tied to his acquired skills and experience, together with the brilliant contacts he has made, Davo is already well on his way to fulfilling his life long dream of being a film director, writer and actor. When the other children were watching after-school cartoons, Davo was watching mature drama films. The only child in his family to have access to their own television and VCR combo for a number of years, Davo's exposure to film began long before he would spell the titles of the films he saw.Now an enduring and determined young man in the underground and independent filmmaking arena, Davo is quickly rising up the ranks of the film industry with his unique blend of comedy and drama, in which there is a devotion to good story-telling and a profound message.Davo has studied an Advanced Diploma in filmmaking, focussing on directing and writing.

From a very young age, Davo Hardy has been a charismatic and witty performer. His acting range can stretch effortlessly from natural and subtle, to the extremes of quirky and outrageous.His dry sense of humour and deep dramatic stylings are also predominent in his screenwriting works.Beginning at the age of 16, Davo has been a popular life-drawing and art school model around Sydney, Australia. He has regularly appeared at the University of New South Wales, for the Fine Arts and sculpture students.He purchased his first film equipment after saving a year's worth of the income that the life modeling generated.

Davo Hardy is also involved in the Deaf Community of Sydney. He volunteers to run a social group for Auslan students and members of the public who are interested in the language and culture of the deaf. As a hearing person, Davo encourages communication between all deaf and hearing people.For his HSC, Davo studied 4-unit Advanced English and for his major project, wrote and directed a short film depicting the challenges of deaf people when confronted with ignorance and intolerance.Many of his closest creative team members have come from the deaf community.
