Dark Shores Amtgard
A chapter of the Principality of Olympus, under the Empire of the Iron Mountains
What is Amtgard?
Amtgard is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that is dedicated to the recreation of the Sword and Sorcery genre as well as educational aspects of both Medieval and Ancient cultures. Amtgard focuses largely on a Medieval-based combat system but also encompasses the arts and sciences of the time, in a friendly, social atmosphere.
Combat and requirments
Amtgard weapons are replicas of period weaponry (Pre-1650) typically constructed of bamboo or fiberglass, built up sufficiently with closed-cell foam. Amtgard is free, with the rulebook and other documents available for free download (Look under links). To participate in the martial aspect of Amtgard you must be at least 14 years of age, and have a signed waiver on file. However, members of all ages are welcome, there's a place for everyone.
The Shire of Dark Shores
Dark Shores is a Shire based in La Crosse WI. Our park is a chapter of the Principality of Olympus, which is a coalition of midwest parks spanning from the Shire of Starmount (Twin Cities), to the Duchy of Olympus (Cedar Rapids, IA). A benefit of this is that we see a lot of interplay with the other Principality groups, allowing for a good number of large travel and camping events each year. Whether you come out for the class battlegames, competetive fighting, or just to enjoy the unique atmosphere, our park has members that fall into every catagory. New players are always welcome!

Current Court
Park officers, or royalty, are responsible for making sure that when you come out to Amtgard, everything is cohesive, safe, and fun. They are the ones behind the scheduling and management of Shire and inter-chapter events, as well as records keeping, rules enforcemnet and field safety. If you have any questions, concerns, or need help with anything, these are the members to go to.

New website for us...This is intended as a simple portal that we can direct new and interested players to. Just a site with information on Amtgard and our park, contacts, current schedule, and links to everything a new player needs to begin familiarizing themselves with the game, and its various aspects, as well as the area parks and players. This way new players save themselves the trouble of wadeing through multiple kingdoms documents, wondering exactly where our park fits into things. If anyone has any suggestions for changes, content etc. please email me.

Jan 10th: Start of second quest
Jan 16th: (A&S) Weapons construction workshop: Omni and flat blades. After wards Ill be handing out some material to start cordials and liqueurs so they have time to age for the Midreign Dragonmaster.
Jan 17th: Second part of Quest
Jan 23rd: Principality Crown Qualifications, _Starmount. Indoor site confirmed.
Jan 24th: Game day (Open bid)
Jan 31st: Caravan to Frostlands quals for those brave souls willing to travel 2 weeks in a row.

Feb 6th: Throw in the snow/Coronation at Squaw Creek Park Marion, IA. In prairie oak lodge. $10 gate.

Feb 20th: (A&S) Everyone makes a tabard. These are simple to make, and teach you a lot of the basics required to make more complex garb. I'll hand out a list of materials beforehand so everyone who's interested knows what to bring. Also, for those of legal age, we'll be finishing our cordials in the kitchen area.
