Daphnee Duplaix was born on August 18, 1976, in Manhattan to parents Michael, a lawyer, and Lynn, a former dance teacher at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York. A melting pot of culture, Daphnee is of French, Haitian, Cuban,& Italian decent. She is the first of three children. Her first inspiration to act was due to her mothers triple threat talent: acting, singing, and dancing. She remembers her mothers performances and recalls that I loved watching her, she was very fluid in her movements. Daphnee performed in different talent shows in school, while creating skits with her cousins to play out in the living room. At the age of 6, her family moved to New Jersey, and than Miami when she was 14.
Playboys first interest in Daphnee came when she was an extra on the set of Demi Moores Striptease, at 19. There she met an agent who had a few of her clients working on the set. The agent asked Daphnee if she was interested in Playboy and willing to meet with a photographer for the magazine. A few days from the initial meeting, Daphnee became Miss July 1997 and was photographed by 30-year Playboy veteran photographer, Richard Fegley.
Moving to L.A. at the age of 21 helped Daphnee achieve more success in her acting career. While working with Playboy, she gradually made over 30 guest star appearances and appeared in over 60 national commercials. Daphnee worked in films such as 2002s Catch Me If You Can that starred Leonardo DiCaprio and 2003s The Fighting Temptations with Cuba Gooding Jr. Other movies include The Road Home, Lost & Found, and made-for-TV movie, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye. She also appeared on primetime television with shows such as The Steve Harvey Show, Angel, Just Shoot Me, Felicity, My Wife and Kids, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: New York, and The District. Daphnee had a correspondent role in Russell Simmons, One World Music Beat, which ran from 1998-2001. One of the first commercials Daphnee had was in one of the Mastercards Priceless series that ran on television for a few years.
In December 2004, Daphnee originated the role of Valerie Davis for NBCs daytime show, Passions. She was originally brought in as a guest star for five episodes, but was given a contract instead. She played an executive assistant for Crane Industries. I was extremely happy with my character and the development. She was definitely a go-getter who was working her way to the top, a little bit on the conniving side, but came from a really good place. Daphnees character went through several interesting plots, including a story arc where her alter ego, Vincent Clarkson, became the main villain at the end of the series. She remained a mainstay on Passions until the end of the series in August of 2008.
Her experience with Passions helped land her in another daytime show, ABCs Emmy Award winning show, One Life to Live. Daphnee comes to the town Llanview in Pennsylvania, as the reformed Rachel Gannon. Rachel Gannon is the bi-racial daughter of Nora and Hank Gannon. The character has risen above a history of drug addiction and prostitution, and now is a drug counselor for the local high school. Duplaix is excited for the role as she portrays a beautiful and intelligent woman. Daphnee is the fourth actress to play Rachel and started on April 7, 2009.
Concurrently with Daphnees role on One Life to Live, she is currently the host of Playboy Channels game show, Show Us Your Wits. The game is based in Las Vegas, where men are randomly chosen to come in a gentlemens club and answer questions. The catch? They are faced with beautiful women who are meant to distract them. She has worked with the show since January of 2009.
Being a mother has given her more compassion and insight to the world. Daphnee wants to engulf herself into more causes that center around issues such as abuse, abandonment, and runaway children in hopes of empowering young women as well as with helping rebuild her mothers homeland of Haiti.. Daphnee is hoping to use her celebrity in a positive manner for those she can reach.
The camera has made her more passionate and critical regarding her work. Daphnee is creative and intuitive, comparing herself to a sponge when shes on a set. Always watching and learning, Daphnee wants to have more control in her career in the form of directing and producing future projects. Recently, she sold a script to the family friendly ABC Family network. It was literally my very first script! My very first meeting and they bought it! She is currently shopping a sitcom pilot she is producing. Along with the many t.v projects Daphnee is working on, she has teamed up with her partner Nino Balistreri on an event that she says will take over N.Y. The 3D experience, is a three day event slated for September 2010. The 3D Experience will educate the millions of people that pass through Times Square on all the new 3D technology that will be heading our way in the near future. Its fascinating how technology keeps progressing.
Before any other interest and job, she is a dedicated mother to her children. While there are many dimensions to her, its these three, a set of twin boys, Jaylen and Sebastian, and the youngest, Jaxson, that completes her world. They have given her a tunnel vision unlike any other, and she is the most passionate about them. I adore my kids. They honestly make me push myself to be better with everything, and I just want to be great for them.
Daphnee Duplaix encompasses all women. She is a devoted mother who pushes herself daily for her children, with a sexy side that has fun with fashion and modeling, and an intelligent hardworking creative force with compassion for the world. Young women can look up to her and find many dimensions to this star. I have a little bit of everything, I am a little bit of everyone. In any given day, I can be anything.
