about Upon first glance, Florence T strikes you with her cheeky combination of sassy flare and demure coquettishness. Born and raised in Montreal, she is the quintessential diva who flirts with the dark side of burlesque with a tongue-in-cheek, mocking attitude. Don't let her flashy exterior fool you however, this dame is much more than just powdered makeup and lip gloss! Beneath it all is an earthy, thought-provoking artist with a deeper message in her music. Florence T is here to sing her heart out with soulful abandon and bring her uniquely provocative point of view to the music world with a melting pot of Deep House, R&B and funky Electro. She is wildly entertaining, eye-opening, positive, and brimming with attitude and we wouldn't want it any other way. Florence T's love affair with music began in the 1990s when she started out as an amateur DJ, spinning music at private parties. Before long, she began singing vocals during her sets and discovered a new passion for singing. She developed her vocal skills by joining a choir and after many years of dedication to her craft, she co-wrote, produced and remixed a collection of her own songs. Inspired by performers such as Lisa Stansfield, La India, Lady Miss Kier, Barbara Tucker and Grace Jones, she pushed herself to develop a unique vocal style: a groovy mezzo-soprano with inflections of soulful house. At other times, she can mesmerize you with a breezy spoken-word voice. "I like to blend my vocal style with pretty much any genre as long as it sounds good", says Florence.
Page 7 In December 2010, Florence launched her debut album, "Baking Beats" at Café Sarajevo in Montreal. Baking Beats showcases her vocal range as she effortlessly flows between joy and melancholy with an infusion of funky
beats, rolling basslines and melodic keyboards. Since 2008, she has performed at Segafredo's, Club Cherry, Viva Lounge, Club MAA and Jello Bar alongside Montreal's local DJ talent including Steven Caicedo, Marvi Arlik, Tazz, Danika Bass, Elizia, Levon & Eli from Mushroom Lounge, Kobal, DJ Rochelle and Thomas & Ellroy from Stereotension Records.
For Florence T, her musical journey is just beginning. With plans to launch a promotional tour and get back in the studio to work on new projects, Florence T's sparkling charisma, creative vision and unstoppable drive will surely give us more fun-filled romps in the future. "Art is meant to be shared. Some may like it, some won't; art is not meant to be perfect. It's meant to make people feel something and people can feel it when it comes from the heart."
