TONGKAT ALI
Malaysia is endowed with rich rain forests which comprise thousands of plants with potential medicinal values.
One such plant is the tall shrub tree from the Simaroubaceace family, Eurycoma Longifolia (Tongkat Ali) which is commonly found along the hilly jungle slopes of Malaysia .
Commonly Tongkat Ali is known as Piak or Tung Saw in Thailand & Pasak Bumi in Indonesia . For its high medicinal values this plant is eminent in several regions of South East Asia .
Different parts of this plant are put into use for its curative properties since very old times. In common language the term Tongkat Ali denotes Ali's cane.
The active elements in Eurycoma longifolia include quassin, neo-quassin, glaukarubin, sedrin and eurycomanol.
