What is abstract? And what does Christian-Rhen "encourage" in her viewers? Abstract Art. For some, that very term means a series of this-or-that thrown on a canvas to create nonsense. For me, it is a means of freedom; not only in art work but in the spirit itself. Abstract art is a way for me to free myself from the stereotypical sense of normality, to begin to open myself to other senses of the world and to grow as a person to create beauty. I am an abstract artist - a person who can see things just a wee-bit differently than most other people. My eyes are wide open, my heart on my sleeve, and my soul open for growth and enlightenment. I, myself, am a piece of abstract work, for all abstract is is a piece with multiple personalities and layers of identity to promote feeling and aspiration to its viewer; thus is myself, a living, breathing piece of work that stimulates others to "see" through different eyes, to be enlightened to use all their senses of passion, wisdom, heart, sensation, and tolerance combined. Through my dedication to the form that is abstract, I have created such pieces that have lived on canvas, cardboard, plaster, mirrors, glass, and the like within my normal medium of acrylics. Although some of my work is solely within the splatter or dollop category, and the other half of my work is in a classical approach, every single piece of my artwork has a story to tell - some as complicated as the piece is simple. Thus I encourage any who view my work to stand back and absorb its content, allowing yourself to open up and to really "take-in" the art so that you can truly express what you think, feel, see, hear - and even taste - what it is that you are viewing. When a person can finally look inside a piece of my work and tell its story (be it right or wrong, is of no consequence), that person will have gained enlightenment and thus have grown as a person and individual in this dull, crude, stereotypical daze that we call "normal life". To that person, I say "Thank You". "Thank You" for taking a moment out of your day to just breathe, and to venture in on a story that was already in progress, yet needed to be finished. Through your participation, that story was able to be told and put to rest. And by that, my work was able to live on... ever so vividly in our minds. Open up your senses, your mind, and your heart, and enjoy the work that is of abstract art... and thus, gain entrance into the adventures of the mind, body, and soul that is the world of CRStefani.
