Ruth 3:18 “ Then said she. Sit still my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.”
After being convinced by the Holy Spirit about five years ago that the Lord wanted a women’s mission, we began looking for a place. Seven months after surrendering to His will, Pastor S. M. Davis of Illinois donated his deceased mother’s home in Gaffney, South Carolina to us!
I thought. “Well the Lord has given us a place, so now we have got to get started.” However, deep in my heart I could not see a way at that particular time because of the hectic yet joyous responsibilities at our men’s mission, Crossroads. I was anxious as I wondered what the Lord intended.
In my devotions one morning, I was reading about George Mueller and the secret of his power through prayer. He was concerned about the growth of his orphanage, but recognized God’s will in the matter. Mueller stated: “I am in no hurry about it. I could wait for years by God’s grace. On the other hand, I would set to work tomorrow, were the Lord to bid me so. The calmness of mind, this having no will of my own in the matter, this only wishing to please my Heavenly Father in it, this seeking only His and not my honor in it; this state of heart, I say, is the fullest assurance to me that my heart is not under a fleshly excitement, and that if I am helped thus to go on, I shall know that will of God to the full.”
My heart has been quiet in the matter, and for almost two years, the house had sat dormant. Then a missionary couple, David and Susie Harvey blessed us with their helps ministry. They lived in the house for over a year and remodeled much of the home with donated items, such as sheetrock, carpet, and tile. Donated materials have saved us thousands of dollars.
Skilled workers from Crossroads have also helped tremendously. The Lord has richly blessed in recent years. The completion of the home is in his hands. We are to follow as he leads!
The Lord has recently relieved me of many of my responsibilities, by allowing us to hire more workers. He has been teaching me to be still and quiet and to wait on Him. I thank the Lord for His guidance.
Ruth 2:12 “...Under Whose wings thou art come to trust.”
F.B. Meyer said “Unless the heart is at rest, it will not be possible to minister the real help and comfort that this weary world needs.”
There are many weary hearts in Gaffney, South Carolina. There are many who will find it hard to be patient while seeking help. Without this calmness of spirit, they will be constantly worried about their circumstances, yet unable to find comfort and peace. The one Person Who helped us can help them , and that is Jesus Christ. He alone can quiet the heart.
“Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall.”
Again, F.B. Meyer: “Before it is too late, get alone with God to learn that the noblest souls are sometimes found within bruised bodies.”
Please pray for us.

Ephesians 3:20
The Quiet Heart is nearing completion of our construction phase, but we have not begun accepting residents at this time.
Please be patient and pray for us as we wait on the Lords timing to open this much needed ministry!
The very nature of addiction and the lifestyle it entails will frequently leave us with little or nothing. Never let that be the determining factor in seeking help. If we waited until we have everything right or in order, we may never reach out for the help we need.
At The Quiet Heart, we are prepared to meet you where you are, wherever that may be. If you have no clothing, no problem. We'll provie that for you. No transportation to get here? We'll work that out too.
The important thing to know is that Jesus loves you and so do we. He has provided a way for you to escape the seemingly impossible situation you find yourself in right now. If you are reading this, the chances are you, or someone you love is in a very difficult, if not dangerous situation right now. With just a quick phone call, you could begin the change that will transform your life. A transformation made possible by our loving Savior.
It doesnt matter who you are. Educated. Wealthy. Religious. It doesn't matter whether you grew up in a city or in the country, whether you were the most successful in school or if you came from a broken home. Addiction can strike anyone.
The good news is you dont have to keep living this way. God loves you and has a plan for your life. You were meant to be a part of His family. You were meant to be a part of your family, and you can be both.
When we are caught up in the throes of drug and alcohol dependence, we cant see a way out. We feel less than, we feel worthless. That is not however, how God intends for us to live our lives.
We understand that addiction takes women much farther than they ever thought they would go. Many times the effects of the drug and alcohol centered life leads us to make decisions and to place ourselves into positions we never would have imagined ourselves in.
Often this subjects us to unhealthy, even dangerous environments where fear for personal safety is a very real concern. Finding a place of shelter becomes not only a desire to escape chemical dependency, but also a relief from exploitive and abusive domestic situations as well.
The Quiet Heart offers an environment where you will be welcomed by a loving staff, volunteers and other women who are experiencing similar situations as the one you are experiencing. We are not here to judge you, but to show you a better way of living through the power and love of a caring Savior, Jesus Christ.
The excitement is building. So are our remodelers! They are working as fast as we recieve resources to finally get this new project off to a great start. God has provided building materials, laborers and finances to help us create the perfect place for women who are experiencing addictions to come in and recieve the help, love and hope they need.
Located in Gaffney, South Carolina, The Quiet Heart is the women's outreach of Crossroads Rescue Mission. Since 2001, Crossroads Rescue Mission has provided long term, faith based recovery for hundreds of men, and prepared them for their return to their families. We have learned many things over the years, but one of the saddest things we have learned is the need for women suffering from addictions is nearly as great as that same need for the men. And unfortunately, it is a need that is growing. Even more alarming is the shortage of beds in any kind of program serving women in our area.
It is this great burden that God has laid on the Heart of Deborah Shelton. Working with her husband Rocky since the inception of the Crossroads Rescue Mission, Mrs. Deborah has been a pivitol force in the development of Crossroads into the ministry it is now. She has now turned her energy and focus into the founding of this new ministry. Understanding the unique difficulties women face; issues dealing with children, domestic abuse, and the social stigmas that can seem insurmountable. She comes armed with the Word of God to help these women find their way in this difficult journey.
If you or someone you know know can benefit from what we have to offer, we encourage you to contact us. We would like to give you information about how The Quiet Heart can help. We welcome family, friends, or pastors to call us to hear how we can be a hope both to you and the loved one you are praying for.
When the woman seeking help is finally ready to make the change, to escape the desperate life that has them bound we are here. We do stress that the individual seeking help must call us and do the initial telephone interview in person.
