Success Stories
The Tennessee Golf Foundation Enderle Interns program is its sixth year of providing internships to rising college seniors and/or college graduates, with the purpose of using golf to educate in the role of philanthropy and the non-profit sector and provide experience and an understanding of the business leaders who enjoy the sport.Golf is a wonderful sport that can teach young adults about honor, tradition and an appreciation for the game. It can expose them to successful role models and teach them skills they can enjoy their entire life. As an industry, golf also offers many exciting career opportunities, but it takes more than an occasional golf clinic or lesson to generate and nurture a real interest in the game. The Enderle Interns program was created to help introduce young adults to business leaders who enjoy the sport and appreciate the values of the game.The Interns program was established by Mark & Cindy Enderle in 2006. Mark credits his business success, to a large extent, to the relationships and people he met through golf and he wants young people to experience those same types of relationships. Through the Tennessee Golf Foundation that access and experience is provided.

The First Tee VinnyLinks Intern

Junior Golf Intern

The VinnyLinks at Shelby Park is a nine-hole Metro Parks golf course where the programs and activities of The First Tee Nashville are conducted. The Intern for this position will work daily at the VinnyLinks Learning Center in Shelby Park. The Learning Center is 7,500 square feet and features classrooms, computer lab and social areas. The VinnyLinks Intern will report daily to the director of the First Tee Nashville. The First Tee Nashville Intern should be a role model and mentor for the students who will participate in The First Tee programs.
The Junior Golf Intern will work with several aspects of Junior Golf within Golf House Tennessee. Half of the Intern’s time will be assigned to the Tennessee PGA Junior Golf Academy located at Golf House. Other responsibilities will involve administrative support for the Junior Tour and Little Course programs. The Intern will report and work daily with the Director of the Academy. Duties will include administrative prep for incoming classes and tournaments, as well as interaction with students. The Intern should be a role model and mentor for all students and posses excellent organization and customer service skills.
The Marketing and Public Relations intern will work daily with the Executive Offices of the Tennessee Golf Foundation, located at Golf House Tennessee in Franklin. The Intern’s goal is to assist with all promotions, marketing, media and membership outlets of all three Associations. The Intern will also assist with fundraising activities for the Tennessee Golf Foundation and sponsor related activities for all Associations. The Marketing & Public Relations Intern requires the ability and professionalism to interact with high-level donors, sponsors, media and directors of the Associations.

Internship Objectives:

The internships involve exposure to a wide variety of golf activities. Experience will include but is not limited to golf tournament prep and administration, communications with juniors, parents, sponsors, media and donors. The Internships are aimed at developing recent college graduates or upper classmen with professional skills such as leadership and organizational efficiency, educating them in the role of philanthropy and the non-profit sector, offering them experience in the golf world and an understanding of the business leaders who enjoy the sport.

How To Apply

Requirements will vary within the three (3) Internship positions. All positions require:

Administrative support of supervisor and related staff, and excellent organizational skills.

Excellent communications skills (written and oral) with customers (golfers, parents, sponsors, donors) and fellow staff.

Ability to communicate and mentor junior golfers and children from ages 4 to 17 all socio and ethnic backgrounds.

Flexibility to handle many different jobs/roles and work with different staff and personalities.

Flexibility to work inside an office or outside on the golf course, as needed.

Excellent planning skills and ability to work unsupervised.

Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office, social media and internet based programs. Knowledge of various office machines helpful.

Golf background and knowledge is not required but a strong desire to learn the game and its traditions is required.

Wlling to work a 40-hour workweek, with the understanding that there will be some weekend hours required.

Candidate must have a valid drivers license, transportation and be willing to travel within the state, including limited overnight stays.

Compensation - Estimated work week of 40 hours per week & rate $10.00 per hour.

Note: A Background Check is required prior to employment primarily for criminal related matters. Candidates for the intern position should know that they would be expected to act in a professional manner at all times.
