ON THE ROAD
MAY 17TH 2009
Well, we're on the road! Everyone is so excited about the trip and seeing our new "old " Airstream. Our plan today is to make it to St. Louis tonight Jami is really excited about shopping at Trader Joe's. Jimmy called and the trailer may not be ready when we get there tomorrow so a hotel in Nashville may be in our future but, we're so excited we can't wait to leave any later.
Day 2 Rend State

Day 3 the big reveal
Today is the day of the big reveal! But first we have to keep ourselves occupied until the trailer is delivered. First stop on our tour was the Country Music Hall of Fame. The tickets were a little steep, 20 bucks per adult, but the museum had a lot to offer so it was worth the admission. Some of the highlights were all of the gold and platinum albums lining many of the museum walls and plenty of performance outfits worn by artists like Dolly Parton, Elvis, and Hank Williams. We did not do the celebrity audio tour because of our 2 little ones, but that would have made the museum even more entertaining.
Next stop was the Grand Ole Opry. Unfortunately, the girls were asleep so we did not get out of the car, but the whole complex is quite a site, tone of stores and a huge hotel/convention center. We did not go the original Opry downtown, but hope to make it there on the way home.
We stayed at a great park called Cages Bend. Its on Old Hickory Lake. The camp was very clean and included all the amenities you would need. There was plenty of boating and fishing action on the lake.
Now for the big reveal, we didnt get our trailer until 10pm so we were pretty tired, but it was worth the wait. The cabinets that are made of walnut are beautiful! I was so excited to see our little bathroom and all of the storage. We had them install a convection microwave, cook top, refrigerator, air-conditioner, t.v., and stereo. Check out the pictures! Let us know what you think!
We are staying another night at Cages Bend. There are a few things that need to be done to the trailer so we are touring today so that they can work on the trailer.
We went to the Rock Castle in Hendersonville. The house built in 1764, has been preserved to its original splendor. The guided tour was very informative and the land surrounding the house was a great spot for a picnic.
Next we toured around Franklin. It was a very cute town with lots of irresistible shops and restaurants. The girls were tired so we mostly drove around.
That night, it was time to celebrate the new trailer with our fantastic Airstream rebuilder, Jimmy Cates and family at Devos in Hendersonville. You can find out more about Jimmys Twisted Silver at www.twistedsilver.net. He's done a great job and is highly recommended.
