about Jason W. McKinzie is one half of the musical duo The Americana Lovebirds . Jason follows in the tradition of tunesmiths throughout time immemorial, dipping his musical cup gratefully into the river of those who have come before him. Genres are no obstacle for this composer. Walls are meant for climbing, and the illusory walls of art are no exception.
Jason has been involved in the writing and recording of music since his earliest days. A Hoosier by birth, surrounded by the beautiful corn fields of Indiana, into a family whose roots in that area span generations, Jason has always been attracted to a simple and natural way of life. Son of a career Navy man, Jason got plenty of world-traveling under his belt at an early age. As a boy, piling into the VW bus in the mountains of Spain with his parents and older brother might lead to a trip through Portugal or France, depending on the season. It was this early exposure to the Old World that inspired in Jason a world-consciousness that persists to this day.
Jason has released many solo albums covering a variety of musical genres. Notable among them are 2008′s “inexpugnable“, an experiment in electronica covering the arc of human life, and 2009′s ‘PUTRIS‘, a ‘return-to-roots’ punk/metal album featuring 14 original head-bashing anthems (and two hidden bonus tracks) with subject matter ranging from horror movie plots to the last thoughts of a convicted serial killer on death row to personal philosophical musings.
Since 2009 Jason has been focusing on The Americana Lovebirds , featuring himself and partner-in-all-things Amy Celeste Young-Beard . These lovebirds are currently delving and burrowing into the roots of American music to create a timeless amalgam with their own inimitable twist.

photography Jason has had a profound love and appreciation for the visual arts for as long as he can remember, from the days of his childhood in Spain, basking in the Old World art of cathedrals and castles, to meandering endlessly the halls of the Smithsonian surrounded by the works of brilliant artists such as Rembrandt, Monet or Toulouse-Lautrec. Photography holds a special place in Jason’'s heart, and he attempts with each of his photographs to honor the medium and those talented artists who have come before him and who continue the tradition of immortalizing the inherent beauty in all things. Jason's photography is presented under the banner of SIMULAR photography, a venture he undertakes with his favorite model, makeup artist, hair stylist, costume designer, fellow photographer and all around favorite everything Amy Celeste Young-Beard .
