Claudio Merico was born in Taranto in 1982.. Graduated in violin at the music conservatory “G.Paisiello” in Taranto (decennial course, old regulation system).Perfected in Rome studying Russian Technique, attending courses and stages with the following masters and concert players: Stephan Milenkovich, Igor Oistrak, Felice Cusano, Sergej Diachenko.More stages and coursesFabio Cafaro (baroque music), Maurizio Deho (jewish music), Antonio Fraioli (world music), Eugenio Bennato (folk music). As auditors: Tullio De Piscopo, Enrico Rava.He attended the three-years course “folk culture in South Italy” at the conservatory Tito Schipa, in Lecce.Professional experiencesAttended concerts with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Apulia Region and Province of Taranto, and cultural association “Amici della Musica Arcangelo Speranza” orchestra.Radio (RadioRai International) and tv (Rai, Mediaset, Tele Norba, Antenna Sud) national and international performances.In october 2010 he collaborated with the composer PAOLO BUONVINO and played with CARMEN CONOLI, great Italian singer and songwriter.He collaborated with GRAZIANO GALATONE , ROSALIA MISSERI and FABRIZIO VOGHERA, protagonists in the musicals “Notredame de Paris” by Cocciante and “Tosca” in Lucio Dalla’s version, playing violin in their solo concerts.He played in many theater shows such as: “Maggio Maggio è capitano” (by Lucilla Galeazzi), “Mozart al chiaro di luna”, “Donne del rimorso”, “Se non conosci Roma”, “Diario di un pazzo che amava Shakespeare”, “Nannarella” (with Anna Mazzamauro, directed by Pino Strabioli) in addition to national and international tours (U.S.A).In the band “Ned Ludd” he played with the famous Italian band “Modena City Ramblers” during their tour and in the Dvd “Onda Libera Tour, contro tutte le mafie” held by the homonymous Don Ciotti’s association.Co-founder of the band “Anonima Folk”, winner of the De André prize in 2004.Gained various experiences in modern and world music: pop, rock, latin, klezmer, irish, italian folk.He collaborated as violinist in the recording of the soundtrack “Il MINUTO FINITO” by FRANCESCO CERASI, main theme of the fiction Mediaset “I LICEALI”.Since a long time he works on composition of soundtracks for short and medium films, documentaries, websites, advertisements, video installations.He composed music for “FRAMMENTI”, a medium film by the young director Gianluca Bianchi, that arrived among the finalists at “Cinefestival delle Gravine”, and “SEGNI DI MARE”, video installation by the artist Giulio De Mitri, exposed at the Experimental Museum of Contemporary Art in l’Aquila (Italy). He also composed music for “IL VAMPIRO”, a short film-documentary that has been projected at the Teatro Verdi in Milan, at a conference organized by C.I.C.A.P. hosted by Piero Angela and transmitted on many national TV broadcasters. This documentary was selected for the prestigious film award “DAVID DI DONATELLO”.He wrote, collaborating with Dario Arcidiacono, an album made of soundtracks for environmentalist TV programmes (RAI 3, GEO & GEO).Teaching experiencesIn 2009 he founds the didactic-cultural website “violinisti.net”Violin teacher in several venues and private schools in Rome.He periodically holds stages concerning violin in different world cultures.
