We get questions like this all the time..."What motivated you guys to start a clothing line?" Simple...
With the increase in popularity of hip hop culture in Africa, we have seen a tremendous increase in the number of African rap artistes each one of them with a unique sound & style. We believe that clothing is a very important part of an individuals image. The truth is, way you dress says alot about who you are. Motto: Dress good, feel good .
With that in mind, it simply didnt make sense to us when we saw an African rapper trying to set themselves apart from the rest of the world while still rocking the same brands rappers from the western world were rocking.
We call this "pure misrepresentation ofones-self."
Also, growing up as African youths in love with the hip hop culture, there was no brand that truly spoke to us directly. We wanted a brand whose makers had gone through the exact same things we had gone through. So to fix these issues, we both decided to create a brand that the African youth can connect with, a brand an African rap artiste can identify with and stand out.
That was the birth of Clad Nine and Nairobi Wear.
Although the concepts and ideas were already in play months before, we consider Aug. 2007 the official founding date of Clad Nine Clothing.
Nairobi Wear was introduced a few months later to cater for a narrower market and help deliver designs with a more geographically oriented background.
Both brands are under the Aquillaz Silhouette LLC., umbrella

Clad Nine Clothing
The name Clad Nine came from the idiom dressed to the nines, which is
used in reference to someone dressed stylish, fashionably, expensive, with
nothing over looked. That is the concept behind all the designs we make.
Majority of the designs under this brand name reflect the lifestyle and the
people from this region.
We believed by creating an African urban fashion brand, we provide clothing
that will help display our uniqueness as a people (Africans) in every
aspect.
With time our mission has become very simpleto Put Africa on the
