The man that said that never met Carla Laney. Carla's has been a part of racing since she was little. As a kid she and her brother, ex-Sprint Car driver, Mike Kirby, used to spend evenings on the GoKart track. At the age of 18 Carla started racing at Ascot Park in Gardena. After sweeping the women's races she decided to take on the men. In 1986 she became rookie of the year in the Boomber Division, winning all 10 main events. slide 1slide 2slide 3Carla moved up and raced Street Stock and Super Stock becoming the first woman to win a Super Stock race in California. With over 25 Street Stock and Super Stock wins, she now races Dirt Late Models. Once again she is the only woman in California to have ever won a Dirt Late Model Race. For Carla racing is about more than just winning. It's about family and her racing family is exactly that. Her husband Chris Laney keeps her car in tip top shape as the chief mechanic. Her 14 year old son Cody is her Crew chief and about the join the ranks as he begins his career driving his first IMCA Modified later this year.Clients
