About...
For those of you who know me personally, you have probably heard me ramble about my jewelry creations or have noticed my desires to create. If I do not know you, well cool, thanks for dropping by! For the most part, I consider myself a dancer (see Dancer website, I won't be talking about that here), which I'm sure the same group of people mentioned above consider me to be the same. But in all honesty, I am just creative. I have always been making things.
I remember this one Christmas when I recieved every toy a little girl could want in the 90s prime of jellys and Ty Beenie Babies and the next day I was toiling around in my dad's workshop hammering and nailing pieces of wood together to make toys of my own. Another time I noticed this strange need to make things of my own was when for some unknown reason, my Grampa decided to give my mom a box full of felt. I took a liking to this collection of felt and started sewing my own little felt wallets with pockets and I even emroidered little heart designs. I know when I made this I was no further along in my education than the 4th grade. Are you catching my drift now?
When ever a friend or family member asked my mom what would be an appropriate birthday of Christmas gift for myself, a craft kit was always the answer. I am sure that is probably how I came to make jewelry. I really can't trace to a moment of exactly where it began.
Now that you have a little understanding of my creative back ground I will explain that the jewelry I make comes from an inspiration of all sorts. I am always looking for new ideas. Walking around the city (New York City ofcourse) is my favorite way to find new ideas simply by looking through stores or what other people are wearing. I am also fortunate enough to be the teacher of a jewelry design class at East New York Middle School of Excellence. This oppurtunity forces me to not only inspire others, but to dig deeper to find new and creative ways to make people think differently about jewelry. I hope what you see here can explain for itself; that you will see originality and character in each piece. Lots of Love- Chrissy
