The Chocolate Gala
(February 5th 2010)
Judges at this year's Chocolate Gala selected the top two products on display during Friday night and awarded exhibitors for "Best in Show".
The 1st Place winner for 2010 is La Gemma Italian Bakery of Wilmington.
The 2nd Place winner for 2010 is Shirley's Peanut Brittle .
The People's Choice "Yummy Awards" are awarded to a total of 5 exhibitors and sponsors, 4 for Product and 1 for Best Booth. These are voted on by the public through ballots they are given upon entry into the show.
The 2010 Yummy Awards for Best Products went to The Little Dipper Fondue Restaurant, Choco-Geo, McNally's Fudge and Rita's Italian Ice.
The 2010 Yummy Award for Best Booth Design went to a participating festival sponsor, Brightmore of Wilmington
The Gala continues to be one of the highlights of the year in Wilmington. Come sample a variety of sweets and beverages while you dance the night away to the tunes of the and participate in a live auction. Starting Friday evening at 7pm until 10 pm.

A two day event of exhibitors with demonstrations by top chefs in the area. Enjoy yourself as you sample products from a large variety of exhibitors and engage in different planned activities, including a boutique and raffle. Saturday morning from 11 am until 6 pm. Sunday from 11am until 4pm

In 2003, the New Hanover County Senior Resource Center and the Volunteer Older Citizens Action League (VOCAL) held a Chocolate Festival, with the proceeds being used to fund senior activities, programs and services in New Hanover County. This festival is now the Senior CenterÂ’s primary annual fundraising event.

Since 2008, each Festival opens with a Friday Evening Chocolate Gala with more than 400 people enjoying Appetizers and heavy Hors d'oeuvres prepared and generously donated by Lawler Catering.
This Year's Opening Gala features Appetizers and Hors d'oeuvres, Wine by the Glass and Artisan Beers, Tastings of our Exhibitor's Sumptuous Chocolates and Wine, a "Live" Auction offering Vacations, Concert Tickets, Art and Jewelery, plus the Main Stage Oldies Sounds of the Use-to-Be's and Jason Marks playing Country Pop in the Festival's "Vineyard & Brewery Lounge.

$30 at Door of Senior Center

The Chocolate Show will take place on February 6th and 7th with over 25 exhibitors providing samples and items for purchase. Enjoy demonstrations by popular area chefs on the main stage kitchen, as well as activities in "Candy Land". “Visitors can also “taste” different wines, have lunch in Café, Shop for handcrafted items in the “Boutique” and try to win one of the many raffles on display at each exhibitor booth.”
