A graduate of Georgia College & State University, I hold a Bachelor of the Arts in Mass Communication, with a concentration in Print Journalism and two minors in English and Dance. I was a student in the Honors Program and graduated Cum Laude. While in college I was a part of Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa and Gamma Beta Phi. I am a two-year recipent of the Robert Walker Christian Journalism Scholarship and was awarded the 2010-2011 GC Dance Minor Scholarship. After my sophomore year I studied abroad in Montepulciano, Italy where I was exposed to many of the worlds most historical and cultural assets. I was avidly involved in the GC Wesley Foundation as a Cell Group Intern and Dance Leader for two years. I volunteered with the local Life Enrichment Center working with adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. As a choreographer I have had my pieces presented at three different dance concerts since 2009.
"I became a journalist to come as close as possible to the heart of the world." ~Henry R. Luce

WRITING SAMPLES: THE COLONNADE NEWSPAPER • Dancers mix modern moves, African-American traditionsThe Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble ventured to the GC campus for a three-day residency in 2010. Their stay included a performance along with master classes for dance minors. This article allowed me to see a very personal side of performers after their show had concluded for the night. • Hot stuff, cool ‘Cats For the September 11, 2009 edition I wrote an article focusing on student firefighters on the GC campus. These young men were not only full-time students but state-approved and trained firefighters who were willing to risk their lives whenever called upon, even without pay. • Haiti hits homeIn a response to the devastating news of the Haitian earthquake in January 2010 I covered the personal tragedy and fears of one of our very own GC staff members as she worried for her native country that was still home to her mother, brother and family. • Nothing has stopped herProfiling a blind student on campus that would be graduating in May was a surreal experience. The interview was partially observing her methods of getting around campus and through life. • Local Marine returns from Iraq, becomes GCSU undergraduateAn article that sought to bring the Iraq War home to GC students, it featured a young Marine who had just enrolled in GC. He had just finished four years on active duty, including two seven-month tours in Iraq. • City Council zones out studentsIn 2008 the Milledgeville City Council passed an ordinance that would in effect fine all individuals who had three or more un-related persons in a single-family house within historic downtown parameters. A controversial ordinance that had the potential of uprooting many students, I took the lead in reporting and following-up on the situation. • Shapes, shadows and skinThis article profiled a young college student who posed nude for the Life Drawing Class. It uncovers how she feels about her position as a nude model and her decision to do it for money. I also took the photograph and won First Place for Best Feature Photography at the 2011 Georgia College Press Association.
