Chef April KoppenhoeferChef April's passion for food and cooking began as a young child, growing up in Northern Maryland. Some of her first memories include helping her family in the kitchen, preparing meals and baking various goodies. "I would wake up early on Saturday mornings and sneak downstairs to watch Julia Child and Jacque Pepin on public access before having to start my chores." Clearly, her love of food began at an early age.As she grew, she found herself more and more interested in trying new foods and preparing meals on her own. After graduating from Harford Technical Highschool, and majoring in the Food Prep Program, she dove into the renowned Culinary Program at Johnson & Wales University. There, she honed her skills and graduated with honors in 2004.After graudation, April began work at The Classic Catering People. There, she did events in Washington D.C. at the Capital as well as preparing meals for The Ravens during training season. From Classic, she moved on to other known catering companies in the area, learning more and falling more in love with her chosen field.Needing to branch out, April decided a move to the desert would be just what she needed. She left for Las Vegas in 2007, where she worked at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion, and was a Personal Chef for a family of three. Realizing that her home was in Maryland, she returned in late 2008. Upon her return, she worked at various places, learning about Allregy Awareness and becoming familiar with cooking Gluten Free.Through her experience and travels, April has always remained true to: using quality ingredients, utilizing locally grown products, and appreciating food for what it truly is. Keeping it simple and delicious.
