Student Learning Plan Coordinators (SLPC)
Your family will be assigned a student learning plan coordinator who will work with each student in your family. Students not enrolled in a campus class with a SLPC will need to have contact with their SLPC each week in person, via phone, email or other electronic means.
The SLP coordinator will also review each students 30-Day SLP progress review. Your SLPC can answer may questions about MP3 and is a resource for you and your student.
When you become a part of MP3, you will gain access to a long list of teaching resources at reduced or no cost.
We have accounts with some of the best services for non-traditional students and continue to look for more.
Below is just a small sample of the tools you can use.
EnchantedLearning.com has tons of reproducibles for all ages with a focus on K-6. The site covers all subject areas and has information from coloring alphabet books to human body part to be labeled.
ProQuest is a searchable database of scholarly journal, newspaper and internet articles on virtually any topic.
The Digital Learning Commons or DLC is a collection of dynamic educator and student tools that includes online classes, lesson plans, research databases, and instructional videos.
Learn 360 is a database of streaming video from a variety of educational sources, searchable by subject and level. Some videos have teaching guides, high-speed internet required.
TeachingBooks.net is a collection of reading guides, lesson plans, and audio records searchable by grade level and topic.
The curriculum and Instructional Support (CIS) is designed to allow parents to acquire materials, resources and experiences in support of their students student learning plan.
The amount of CIS available to students depends on the percent of enrollment and whether they choose to take classes on campus (Campus) or not (Extension). Full time students receive the entire allocation, part time students receive a prorated amount based on their percent of enrollment.
CIS can be used to pay for music lessons, textbooks, field trips, academic tutors and more.
Our Campus Program has many class options for every grade level. Classes are taught by certified teachers as well as community members. Parents and students are updated on progress in every class every month.
Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays and have 6 to 15 students. Parents can choose from traditional academic classes to innovative electives such as Entomology and Wonders of Whatcom County.
Parents choose their child's schedule and supplement with classes they design.
In addition to these classes, parents can use CIS to purchase curriculum for the parent designed classes, music lessons and more!
Our Extension Program offers the most flexibility for families. All courses are designed by the parents or a parent-chosen instructor.
We have a list of approved Community-Based Instructors (CBIs) to suggest if you are looking for a instructor in a specific subject area.
Your SLPC will maintain a relationship with each of your students to reflect on what they are learning, how they learn, and celebrate successes with them.
This program also offers Curriculum and Instructional Support to help students reach the goals in their Student Learning Plans.
Students can enroll in one campus class that is not full at the beginning of the year. Ask your SLPC about available classes and how to enroll.
All the forms to be filled out for enrollment can be found and printed from our website. Click on the Forms button at the bottom of this page.
We are filling up quickly and students will be accepted in the order that completed enrollment packets are received.
The Choice Form needs to be signed by the school district you live in. Since this is part of your enrollment packet, it is recommended to go directly to your district office and ask them to fax the document to our office.
When you are enrolled, your Student Learning Plan Coordinator will contact you.
The Student Learning Plan (SLP) is the driving force behind your students education for the year. It is completed online via WINGS. Parents are expected to use it to plan an annual curriculum for each child. Our website has sample class descriptions for each grade and subject area. These are merely templates for those who choose to use them and are by no means required classes. Parents are encouraged to edit and add to these as necessary to produce a unique Student Learning Plan for each child.
The Student Learning Plan should list any tutors or specific materials you intend to use as curriculum, but if you do not know the specific titles of books or names of tutors this can be added in your month end reviews.
Student Learning Plan Coordinators (SLPCs)will review and approve each Student Learning Plan when it is completed by parents. Student Learning Plans must be in place before students can take part in any MP3 activities, classes or use CIS.
The parent and a MP3 teacher must review the Student Learning Plan once every 30 days. Parents may login to WINGS anytime between the 10th and the 15th of the current month to complete a review for the last 30 days. The review is due by 5pm on the 15th. Completing the review will include a summary of the months activities for each off-site class and should include specific information as available.
The three main items that need to be included in the 30-Day Review are the TOPICS, ACTIVITIES and ASSESSMENTS for the previous 30 day's work in that class. Parents should include goals met, progress made and any areas of concern.
The student's Student Learning Plan Coordinator will review the comments and may refer them back to the parent with
specific questions if they need more specific information.
