I have been studying at The Arts University College Bournemouth Studying 'BA (HONS) Costume with Performance Design', and will be graduating in July 2011
Although I have experience in historical making, textile work and contemporary productions my interest lies predominantly with male making and Tailoring.
Costume for 'The Rileys'
This was a second year tailoring project.
I was part of a group of four makers, each creating an entire costume through making and sourcing items.
The trousers and Jacket where made using traditional methods such as hand sewn pad-stitching, appropriate use of canvases. The jacket also had ribbon sewn to create a more obvious stripe and more texture as requested by the client.
The waistcoat was sourced but heavily adapted in shape and size, with sequin appliqué on the shoulders.
Alice In Wonderland
Second year Project.
Although not based on specialist intrest, this project was an important lesson in really breaking down costumes and creating really abstract pieces.
The aim of this production was to appear as mouldy and deceased as possible, so i had of a lot of experience in the dye room with techniques such as puff binder and breaking down.
A 19th Century Style Waistcoat
This tailored waistcoat is made using the traditonal tailoring methods, including Welt pockets, canvas's and pad-stitching.
Arabian Nights:
This textural costume was for a university production of “The First Arabian Night” for the character “Chief Wife”, one of the principle narrators. This involved a lot of dye-room experience and techniques such as foiling and dying the fabric.
The complete costume consisted of a bra-top, Harem trousers, a dress, belt and a cover-up robe.
