Miss Gutstadt's Class
Thank you for visiting our class site! I'm so excited to be working with you and your children this year. Feel free to use this site to find more information about me, what we are up to in class, and what your child should be working on for homework each week. You will also find useful resources for the whole family to enhance your child's learning.
Though I hope to get to know each family as the school year progresses, I wanted to give a short introduction of who I am and the experiences I have had that have brought me to teaching. I am a Denver native and an alum of Cherry Creek High School. I recently graduated from the University of Denver where I earned my bachelor's degree in Sociology and my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction through a rigorous and intensive five-year program which allowed me to complete both degrees simultaneously.
My loves include music, traveling, cooking, writing and Denver sports (my Avalanche in particular, though the Rockies come a close second). I fully believe in bringing my experiences and passions into the classroom and I will encourage my students to do the same.
My overall goal this year is to provide my students with a safe, enjoyable classroom experience that fosters creativity, discovery, and growth. I cannot wait for our journey together to begin!
Reading : Your child should read for at least 20 minutes five times a week and record it in their reading log.
Math : Your child will be bringing home a math worksheet each night that accompanies the lesson from the day.
Writing : Your child should make at least one journal entry this week that can either be from the idea list I sent home, or it can be free writing.
Science/ Social Studies : Please help your child start thinking about what topic they might want to choose for their biography projects that we'll be starting.
