Founded in 1973, the Festival was designed to celebrate the egg industry in central Maine and complement the already popular Kiwanis Karnival. Though the egg industry has all but left the region, the Festival remains strong even after 39 years. Now the Festival prides itself in providing a venue for area non-profit groups to come together and make their causes known to visitors who come to enjoy this family friendly festival.
The town of Pittsfield is home to the Festival. A quiet community of less than 5,000 people, Pittsfield welcomes the thousands of visitors each July. A street dance, egglympics, window painting, and a bike rodeo are just a few of the scheduled events during the week leading to the Big Day.
This year's Festival theme is Home Town Heroes and we hope you will come and celebrate your home town heroes with us. Keep checking back as we add more to our new website.
Our Marketplace Tent features some of New England's finest Arts & Crafts. All Arts & Crafts are held to a strict standard of hand-made or home-made products. Some of the crafts displayed are: wood crafts, paintings, soaps, candles, wrought iron, jewelery, sewing-crocheting-knitting-needle work, toys and books to name just a few. The Marketplace also offers a select group of commercial vendors who have been invited to display their services.

Our Corporate Sponsorship program was started to help defray the cost of producing the Festival. In 2011, 38 sponsors gave over $20,000 in sponsorships. These donations helped with the Festival's fixed costs such as tent rentals, insurance, electricity and park repair to name a few. Some of our sponsors gave in-kind donations such as photography for the Festival, lighting for the festival grounds, trophies & ribbons for events, signage for the festival grounds, small tents and even the fireworks. Still others created and worked events such as our children's area and bike rodeo.
Our event is small in comparison to other events in our region. What sets us apart is our mission, which is to provide a venue for small central Maine non-profits to plan and execute one large fundraising event each year. All of our participants are either non-profit groups or groups raising monies on behalf of a non-profit such as Children' Miracle Network or Special Olympics; and all of the monies raised go right back into central Maine communities.
