ESCAPE WINTER
Come experience our beautiful surroundings, nestled amongst the cedars beside the tranquility of the Little Qualicum River.
We are fortunate to have very mild winters with little or no snow
. No shoveling or scraping required.
Just peaceful walks in a pleasant environment along the beach, in town or on one of the many trails in the area.
ESCAPE THE PRAIRIE DEEP FREEZE
Welcome to Qualicum Beach, BC on beautiful Vancouver Island where we have our own west coast micro climate. Why go south where you have to be concerned about things like extra healthcare?
If we get snow at all, it is gone in a day or two. No need to bundle up - leave your boots, toques and mittens behind.
It is a good idea to bring some rain gear as we do have a little rain ~ believe it or not! This rain makes the vegetation so lush and the spring flowers bloom in March and April, ... wouldn't you like to see daffodils blooming in early April?

WHAT TO DO IN QUALICUM BEACH
The activity that everyone enjoys is observing the wildlife that is abundant in the area (as seen in the photos). It is common to spot deer, eagles and all kinds of little critters. As Cedar Grove RV Park is located near the mouth of the Little Qualicum River, we have spotted seals and otters on the river bank.
Birds abound in the west coast rainforest including eagles, owls, herons and numerous song birds. The hummingbirds arrive in the Spring.
A must-see is the salmon run up the Little Qualicum River in the early autumn ~ an amazing sight for all us prairie folk. Grab your fishing rod and a licence or book a fishing charter.
A short stroll from Cedar Grove RV Park and you are at the beach where it is common to see seals and occasionally spot pods of whales and dolphins. Another beach activity is digging for oysters ~ you haven't tasted smoked oysters until you dig them, roast them, then smoke them over an open fire. A wonderful way to get to know your neighbours too because when they smell the aroma of oysters cooking, they may even bring over the wine.
Other activities include hiking on many pathways and trails, golfing - 7 major golf courses are within 30 minutes of Cedar Grove RV Park. Don't forget to visit the galleries and eclectic shops in Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Bowser and Coombs - stop by "Goats on the Roof" for a unique market experience.
Exceptional dining opportunities await - from traditional fish & chips to sushi to steak & prawns to gourmet restaurants. Experience seaside dining overlooking the beach - a great view over breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Qualicum Beach Area Newcomers' Club is a social club that encourages the participation of adults who are new to the Oceanside area. Couples as well as singles of all ages are welcome to join activities including cards, nature walks and group dining.
While here for the season, plan to visit some of the surrounding attractions such as the Cathedral Grove, Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, Mount Washington Alpine Resort, Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park, Butterfly World & Gardens, Coombs Old Country Market, Big Qualicum Fish Hatchery along with Milner Gardens & Woodland.
There is a never-ending list of treasures to be explored - the list of attractions and experiences is extensive and one season won't be enough to expore all The Island has to offer.
