About us...
The concept of a wind band exists in Ericeira since 6th de August 1849 thanks to three men...
Furthermore, we have a Music School with around 25 children/teenagers to whom the Board of Directors puts great faith on, and feels very commited to.
In 1999, we participated in the 44th International Festival of Rastede (Germany), and won the 2nd place for concert bands and the 3rd place for marching bands. Our conductor, at the time, Luís Filipe Santos, was also awarded.
In 2000, the band went to the Azores, Pico Island, in an exchange program with Banda União e Progresso da Madalena.
In 2000 and 2001 we participated in the 12th and 13th International Cycles of Carrillon, with a Dutch conductor, Mr. Maassen, in the cloisters of the National Palace of Mafra.
... that the history of Ericeira will never forget. We are talking about Joaquim Elisiário Ferreira, teacher, António Agostinho da Costa Batalha, notary, and friar Egresso Costa.
After being created a wind band in Ericeira, many names designated this Institution up to 1976 (when the current designation was created). Although there were several drawbacks, the sense of solidarity and the general idea of working for a comunity, education and culture kept going.
On 27th April 1987, FILARMÓNICA CULTURAL ERICEIRA gets its own official regulations.
In addition to the wind band, this institution currently has two brass quintets (Eribrass e CoolBrass) and a clarinet Ensemble as well as severall projects for the future.
We keep nourishing a rejuvenating atmosphere and growth of our musicians, Board of Directors, and the constant support of our affiliates that continue believing in the idea that was seeded two centuries ago. This makes our institution one of the most representative ones of Ericeira and of our region.
