Jean McMullen
After creating, painting and teaching for over 25 years, I still feel the excitement and passion of the creative process. My paintings and collages are intense and vibrant with color. I specialize in watercolor florals, landscapes and lighthouse and wine and food collages, plus prints, t-shirts and note cards. I hope you enjoy visiting my website!
Jean McMullen has a M.A. in Art Education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois with extensive graduate work in a variety of education and art courses. She teaches elementary art in the Ritenour School District during the day, but finds time to teach watercolor painting to adults at night. Jean continues to take watercolor workshops with nationally known artists to broaden her own personal artistic experiences.
She owns and operates J. McMullen Studio, specializing in original watercolors of floral, landscapes and lighthouses and wine and food collages, plus prints, t-shirts, and note cards, of her work. Jean’s paintings are intense and vibrant with color and she is continually fascinated with the outcome of each painting.
Jean’s work is held in many private and corporate collections throughout the United States. In December 2004, she created watercolor ornaments for the Governor’s Mansion in Jefferson City, Missouri, where they are permanently on display as a gift to the Governor’s Mansion from former Governor and Mrs. Holden. Jean’s watercolor of “St. Simon’s Lighthouse” was selected as work represented by the National Historic Lighthouse Gift Shop at the Lighthouse in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
In March 2004, Jean was selected to be the artist of the month for the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis where she demonstrated painting and displayed her original watercolors and other merchandise. Les Bourgeois Winery, St. James Winery, River Ridge Winery and Lau Nae Winery own her wine collages. Most recently Jean’s painting “Tulips” was featured on the front cover of “The Country Register”. Northside Gallery, Simpatico Gallery, Rocheport Gallery in Missouri and Art and More Gallery in Illinois are where her shirts, note cards and prints can be found.
Jean continues to show her work in juried fine art shows throughout the Midwest. She is pleased to be a Best of Missouri Hands juried artist, Greater St. Louis Art Association juried artist and a signature member of the St. Louis Watercolor Society.
