'Collate Presents' a Brighton based curatorial team put out an open call to artists to explore the title 'off beige'

With an overwhelming response we have seen some incredible creations from artists working to, around, above and beyond the brief.

We are waiting with baited breath for the submission deadline to arrive where we will be selecting works that both complement and compromise each other to bring you a show stopping event.

ABOUT

The team

Collate is made up of two designers with the same outlook but very different approaches.Gem is an architectural designer and splits her time between running her practice, designing and making bespoke furniture and drinking too much coffee in her capacity as a freelance features editor. She can often be found huddled in a corner with her mac and a cuppa in a tea room near you, if you spot her come and say hi.Carly is predominatlly a sculptor but has been known to dabble in all things art, she paints, writes and can also bake a mean lemon drizzle cake. Obsessed with anything to do with light this is her preffered medium producing large scale installations. In addition to building a clock with no numbers she is also currently working on a maufacturing documentry project for submission to the Brighton Photo Fringe 2011.Follow the team on Twitter_gem_shandy __carlyjayne

OFF BEIGE BRIEF REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSEDIf you wish to be added to our artists mailing list for future submission calls please email us at collate_rocketmail.comCall for artists Collate presents off-beige10-14th November 2011We are very pleased to announce that the show will take place at Beaconsfield studios. (more below) Brief:The title off beige will form a theme for an inner city exhibition within Brighton town centre to showcase works from a range of creatives. Think well brewed tea, unspun yarn, a pile of sand, a knitted camel. Then turn it into inspiration.We welcome submissions from all aspects of creative genius; photographers, digital artists, designers, makers, sculptors and bakers.Students and practising artists are welcome to participate from all areas of the UK. How to submit:Registration deadline: 12pm 11th October 2011We require you to register intention to submit, this does not need to include any details of works but a brief outline of media. You can do this by emailing collate_rocketmail.com. Emails must include name, media and contact details. Submission deadline: 12pm 31st October 2011Submissions need to be made by email in the form of JPEG images of submission along with a text document outlining the inspiration and intention behind the works, please note this may be included in publications advertising the event. Selection will take place on the 4th November when artists will be informed if their work has been selected. Works will be installed w/c 7th November when artists will be required to deliver to the gallery. Restrictions:We welcome submissions from video and digital artists however you would be obliged to bring your own AV equipment as this cannot be provided.Maximum height 2mPhotographs or framed submissions must be mounted with D style standard hooks for hanging purposes. Fees:We are not charging a submission fee, we believe that although this has become standard practice in the art world we want to give everyone an opportunity to submit, therefore submission will be free and instead selected artists will be asked to make a donation towards the promotion of the exhibition which will be between £10 - £30. Location:We are very pleased to announce that the show will take place at Beaconsfield studios.Within the building we will be taking over the studio of the very talented and internationally recognised Caia Matheson who has exhibited alongside Billy Childish, Yohji Yamamoto, Jamie Reid, Ben Allen, Sir Paul McCartney, Simon Dixon, and Chris Kettle.
