Of all the things we are involved with in our young-adult years, the most valuable is to learn and do the things which will make us more like Christ. The CBCYA Ministry seeks to be a cutting edge, dynamic group. We hope to do that by welcoming in new people, engaging and equipping us all to live as Jesus taught, and sending us into our campuses, communities and even to the ends of the earth to make a real difference for the Gospel.
Thursday nights – We meet at Alex and Susan Tessmer's house every week at 6:30pm for worship, and discussion of God’s word in an informal atmosphere where we strive to make the Bible relevant and engaging in our daily lives. It is a good time and great place to hang out and get to know other young adults
Welcome to CBCYA! We are so glad you"re checking out our community and we would love to serve you in any way we can. CBCYA is a great place to plug in if you're searching for answers, desiring closer relationships, and wanting to grow deeper in your walk with Jesus. So if you want to learn more about CBCYA, a life group that meets in your area, share a prayer request, or ask a question, go ahead and fill out our contact form so we can help you out. We hope CBCYA will be a second home for you.

The Young Adult Ministry exists to help establish young adults in their faith, relationships, and vocation by seeking to integrate the Gospel into their lives and the culture in which they live. We strive to be a healthy community that seeks to live as missionaries for Jesus wherever God uses us.
Ministry Values
The Good News of Jesus. The Gospel is at the center of all our teaching, serving, and worship. We seek to understand that the Gospel is not only the door we enter through, but the road on which we travel through life. We seek to proclaim Christ crucified and the life He offers to all who believe. ( 1Cor. 2:2; Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 15: 1-11; Col. 1:5)
The Bible
We hold the Bible to be our authority that guides our lives and shapes the way we view the world, ourselves, and others. Our ministry exalts the teaching and living of God's Word. (2 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 4:12)
Community
We believe that Christians are not lone-rangers but are called to be in community with each other. We need each other to help grow in our spiritual journey and the world at-large needs to see a healthy community at work in a dysfunctional world. (Acts 2:42-47; Rom. 12, 14, 15:1-7)
Application
The Christian life is meant to be lived, not merely talked about. Therefore, we seek to apply the teaching of the Bible to our everyday life. This is discipleship at it's core. We are not to be simply "hearers of the Word, but doers." (Matt. 28:18-20; James 1:22-25; 1 John 2:6)
Mission
Followers of Jesus are called to be missionaries to the places God has put them. We seek to help bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth through our jobs, studies, acts of service and cross-cultural trips. ( Acts 1: 8; Ps. 96; Acts 17:22-34)
Integration
We seek to help young adults integrate their faith into their work/studies which will, in turn, affect the culture for the glory of God. We also seek to integrate young adults into the life of the local church where their giftings are developed and used. (Rom. 12, 14, 15:1-7)

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY LIFE GROUP?
We believe that life is best lived in an environment where meaningful and transparent relationships can be fostered in a small group setting. Life Groups consist of 8-12 people who meet every other week in homes throughout the Phoenix area. We place a high value on prayer, accountability, relationship-building, and the study of Gods Word. We offer several different kinds of life groups for whatever stage of life you find yourself in (single, engaged, married). There is something about doing and experiencing life together that brings joy to the heart of a Christ-follower. Community says, We need each other!
We want others to see what true community looks like. Its not meant to be strange, bizarre, or cold, but authentic and genuine. A place where people can engage with one another, laugh, share, and even, at times, pour their hearts out.
James, A.K.A. "Hox", is the Young Adults Pastor here at Camelback Bible where he thrives on "bringing Christ to the city". James was born in 1981 in Western Nebreska and raised on a farm (where his father is still farming and his mother a school teacher). Having grown up in a Christian home, Christ was very familiar to James, but his relationship with Jesus became "real" to him his freshman year of high school at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes gathering. Sports have always been a big part of James' life. He attended Wheaton University, where he played football and threw the shot-put and discus on the track team. At Wheaton, James majored in Christian Education and Ministry, and is currently working towards his Master's of Divinity at Phoenix Seminary. In 2004, James became the football coach at Scottsdale Christian Academy, where he worked for two years. Around that time, James met his future wife, Sarah, on a blind date in April of 2005. They were married in June of 2006, and soon realized that God was calling them to much greater things. In November 2007, James and Sarah adopted their first child Michael, 8, from Uganda. In October of 2008 they welcomed their daughter, Molly Grace, into this world. James and his family now reside in Phoenix Arizona, where they strive to uplift the name of Christ for the work of His kingdom. James is very excited to be a part of Camelback and looks forward to helping the small groups and young adults "bring Christ to the city, and the city to Christ."
Sean Colelli is the Director of Contemporary Music at Camelback Bible. He began attending CBC when he moved from his hometown of Akron, Ohio, to Phoenix, Arizona in May of 2009. Sean's gift is worship. He has a great desire to lead not only songs, but people, and engage them in the true meaning of worship (Romans 12:1&2). Sean, at the age of 14, began his work in ministry at his fathers church in Wadsworth, Ohio, leading music for his youth group. Various churches in Ohio became interested in Sean's God-given ability to lead and direct worship, and he began playing music at different church venues. This led Sean to Maranatha Bible church from 2006 until 2009, where he oversaw music for the young adults/youth ministry. After being laid off from his job at Wrayco Industries, Sean felt God calling him to Arizona. He became involved in CBCs Young Adult Ministry, where he now desires to see young adults grow in their relationship with Christ.
The Ignite Celebration is a Worship Service that meets once a month in the sanctuary at Camelback Bible Church where we seek out Community with Each Other, Intimacy with Christ, and a time of Worship and Celebration for our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ calls all of us to worship through singing of songs and getting deeper into His word so that we can be a light in this world. The Ignite Celebration is welcomed to all ages and what ever stage of life you might find yourself in. Please join us for this wonderful night of Worship and Community.
